Eurotubes does imply that the long plate versions of the JJ's may end up being more microphonic than short plates due to vibration. I've got no direct experience to prove or disprove that but I've avoided them and the short plate golds are sweet anyway.

Had an opportunity to do some more tube rolling in my TB1000. Results definitely worth reporting cause this resulted in everything I was looking for: defined, punchy, musical, responsive while still keeping that Orange snarl. Gold pin TungSol in V1, gold pin JJ in V2. Just wow.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I have never had preamp tubes make as much of a difference in any other amp I've owned. Just wish everyone else who owned the head knew it too.

Well am a new TB1 owner for 2 weeks, last night was a small venue show I set up mi rig with pedals but I forgot my power supply and so I had to go straight to amp. Man that little monster is massive!!! I am not 100% in the tone I want but this is close. the rig cuts very nice and growly, punchy live.

although it sounds very different with the pedal board wish only have a wireless>compressor>Sansamp>amp>ampgeg 70's 810 with new speakers.

set up and load out is making everyone jealous not to carry pounds of amp and just have a carry on bag haha. I am in the proseses of making a video review will be out soon!

I have it for a short time and I notice the fan is actually noisy that means its maybe more efficient on pulling heat out but is not good for studio, I have a studio and when you turn it off you notice the difference. I put my hand on top sides and is not hot.

You can replace it with any standard 80mm low noise computer fan, although you may need a 2-to-3 pin adapter for it to fit, same adapter used to hook fans up to graphics cards.

great to hear. I don't doubt it. I just know I read bad things.. but then again, don't we ALL read bad things about amps from time to time.. as a matter of fact, I am LEARY if I DON'T SOME bad things about an amp.. it's how a company FIXES problems that matters.. I love Ampeg, even after reading of issues.. same with MESA.. and yes, I love orange too.. all such great gear(!)

Got my BT 1000 in September 2013. Everything was great until the 3rd gig out. I left it on standby between sets one night- using 2-SVT 210 AVs. Came back 15 minutes later and I noticed the Orange light was out. I had gain and master no higher than 2.
I couldn't revive it. Luckily I had a PF-350 for backup to use in last set and it did what it was supposed to do.
Next morning I hooked the Orange back up and it was working, although the Orange light was still burnt out. It might have been my ears but something didn't sound right with the sound anymore either.
After contacting Orange through email (very acceptable customer service I might add), they sent me a return label and off it went back to them.
One month to the day, I got it back. All the paperwork in the box said they did was "replace pilot light". This made me worry as I was looking to see if they could maybe tell me a root cause of why it happened. I emailed them again and couldn't get anything else out of them.
Since having it back, I've used it probably 10 times (twice at the place where it tanked) and so far so good.
Worth noting, I have not used it again with the 2- 210 AVs. Wasn't there an issue a long time ago with using 2 of these cabs together or was that just with the Micro VR? Anyway, I'm not trying to point fingers at the cabs (am I?) although I did have my PF-350 cut out once but have since learned to keep gain/master below 2 oclock.
I believe it might have been a simple power surge that night but who knows. It just sucked that something went out so soon after purchasing new.
Hopefully those days are over. I love my BT-1000, the sound, the weight and the simplicity are perfect for me. :bassist:

Holy crap!! How have i just now seen this review?!?
I'm putting mine at optimal flat from now on, gonna see how that sits!

My head went down sometime mid last year. It would power up but no sound. Orange pointed me to a local tech who fixed it under warranty! Free!! Whoo hoo!!

As for tube rolling, i tried JJ's in both positions and while it cleaned up considerably, i also lost some actual volume. I found that a JJ in V1 with the original tube (maybe a Sovtech, dunno) in V2 gave me the compromise I wanted. Little bit cleaner attack but enough wool on the backend.
Perfect!

hiho,9 months into using Terror 500 and a sp212 cab.
what would I change-get another sp212 cab would be the only thing I would change to the current set up.
Orange bulb blew and it was replaced with a 12v 4 watt car bulb,not as bright as the original but it,s better for me now.
This amp and cab just get better,get volume and gain up to 11 oclock and it just fills the place with loadsa great sound.It,s incredible how much volume and depth there is to this set up,oh and tone to die for.Using active basses I can go from cutting slap sound to deep dub with the tone controls on the bass,hows that for being versitile.
I,ve used a lot of gear over the years and never even thought about going Orange but I,m glad I did-nothing like them.

I agree Machine. I never ever considered Orange until six months ago and like you, I love it.
Over the past 24 hours, I've read thread after thread on the SP212s. One person on here absolutely despises them while the majority (certainly not all) of others is a "meh" type reaction. But I can't stop thinking about them. I would definitely go two if/when the time comes but that brings up another issue: what about a OBC115 with a SP212 on top? I know the mix/match is not a very popular idea...but just curious.
I think I'm on the road to all Orange.

I had this custom made for my TB1000. It has grates on the sides for the fan as well as a cutout for accessing the DI and effects loop.

Looks great I think.

My only problem is this amp is WAY too loud. I got a good deal on it and a good deal on the case as well. But I had the case made before I really played the amp too much. I'm thinking I may part ways with it down the road, maybe get a TB500, but we'll see I still want to try it out a bit more.
