ORANGE BASS TERROR: The Review!

For me, you're too late ;). I just ordered one :D
In europe they are cheap, priced on the same level as an Ashdown Little Giant or a Carvin BX500 or Galien-Krueger MB2-500.
Less € than a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0, though much more euros per knob than that. :ninja:
For a Markbass F500 or Tecamap Puma you have to pay almost double the price. So that's much less € per kilogramm for the Terror Bass. :p
And I like their looks, reminds me of the power supplies used at school for physics lessons during the sixties.

What is this!!!!?

NICE!!! Congrats. Eager to hear clips.

Looks like its for left handers.:hiding:

Remember in the UK, they drive on the other side of the road, so, we're backwards! :D

Damn weak dollar and exchange rate! Now I know how it feels when you want to buy a Fender or other US made gear! :smug:

CAn you compare the sonic differences between the two? I'm familiar with the GK. But am curious how the Orange stacks up in power and sound.

The Orange tone is a bit colored. You can tell. In a good way, of course. The GK is clean, very clean. In a good way. The GK only gets a little dirty if I throw its boost mode up a lot. It's meant to be dirtied by pedals and whatnot.

The Orange can sing and sounds great with all my pedals running through it. Its gain knob is WONDERFUL. dynamic

Thanks for the reply.

I noticed your 1001 is set very close to where I set mine. Is the rated power difference pretty noticeable?

In case you're confused, the one in the picture is the floor model from my local guitar shop. I was trying it out last night, and I was going to buy it...until I stumbled upon TPB's closeout sale.

Great pics and comments!

This may sound silly, but can it do 500 watts at 8 ohms?
I see the little toggle switch for the impedance. What's that for?

I have their SP212 cab but its 8 ohm. So I was kind of thinking to wait for the Bass Terror 1000 and just getting another SP212. I don't know of many small amps that will do that cab's RMS rating of 600 watts since most SS amps need a 4 ohm load to wake up.

The toggle switch allows you to run at 8 or 4 ohms. i'm running at 4 ohms right now: 2 8 ohm cabs. But if I want to take 1 cab to a smaller gig, I flip the switch to 8 ohms and I'm safe.

But to answer your question about it running 500 watts into 8 ohms...I don't know. I assume all 500 watts will be pushed, but I do not know for a fact.
