Bump
I think the bottom line of these new SP Iso cabs is portability. I have the SP212, which I like just fine. The deal for me is I have a Jeep Liberty. I cant get my Aguilar DB412 cab in the back, but I can get 2 SP212's, or for that matter, 4 SP212's, which would give me the punch of 2 4X12 cabs. Punch is the whole thing with ISO cabs. Sure the volume and tone is going to be on par with the size of the cab, but with ISO, you are going to feel it more, with more punch. I have one gig I do in downtown Nashville at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Probably the worlds smallest stage and crappiest P.A. Anyway, I have tried using both the Orange SP212 and my Aguilar GS212 4 ohm cab. The Aguilar for some reason I have to turn up the volume of my Terror Bass to almost twice as much to get the same punch as the Orange SP212 at about half the volume. Gain and tone controls all set the same, only adjusting the Volume. After settling on using the Orange only on that gig, I have since been told to turn down more and that the cabinet is so Punchy, everyone feels it more. The tone is the same as it would be if it were a 112 cabinet. I have used an Aguilar DB112 before and a Markbass 112 500 combo as well. The Markbass is sterile sounding, and the Aguilar would never be able to handle that much power, so it is unfair to compare these ISO cabs against their respective 1x? cabs, due to power handling and punch. I am stating IMHO and I do own all of the above cabs, with exeption of the Markbass, and I know that I get more bang out of the Orange ISO stuff, even though I really love my Aguilar DB412's, but I cant transport them anywhere without a trailer.
