OVNIFX Smoothie Compressor

Sort of. There are others to consider such as the FXEng Mirage, Moen Unicomp, Mad Professor, Dedalo, OWA 1960, Budda Chakra, VFE White Horse, and I'm sure a few that I'm forgetting at the moment. But I do think the Smoothie can be dialed for a similar sound and effect as the Diamond.

I would agree with that though it just happens with the Diamond and you have to fiddle with the knobs on the Smoothie but the Smoothie is more versatile and smaller, the Diamond is 18v though it does work at 9v but it's rather big....I had 2 Moen's which I liked but they both broke (you get what you pay for most of the time). I'm keeping my Smoothie.....thanks Bongomania

Thanks Bongo, I think that's made up my mind. I was looking at this and the Darkglass SS, think the smoothie produces the sound I'm after.

I don't think you'll be disappointed, the Smoothie beats the Diamond in just about every way for me - smaller, standard power, parallel compression, can get similar warm tonality but with way more range and versatility (don't have experience with the Darkglass)

Brill! Admittedly I'm making these decisions a little prematurely, I'm buying a Bergantino cab within the next month so will be a while before I have some spare pennies. Still good to know what I'll get when I do.

Just watched this video again, don't know how it passed me by previously but wow when you turn that tone knob counter-clockwise does it boost the lows and cut the highs!
Yes, the tone knob has a pretty strong range of effect. I rarely set it any farther than 11:30 to 12:30, for myself.

I've had the Smoothie a few days now, and it's fantastic. It has such a great sound! I'm still trying to figure out where I want the Sust knob to be set. I love how fat and punchy my sound is with the Sust knob set at 12:00, but it doesn't allow for a lot of volume contrast there (not much volume difference between playing soft and playing hard). However, when I bring the Sust down to 10:00 or 11:00, it allows for more volume contrast, but then the sound isn't quite as fat and punchy. So that's what I'm working on now, figuring out how to keep the big, fat, punchy sound, and still be able to have more contrast between loud and soft volumes.

Try keeping the Sust knob high, but use the clean blend to bring back some dynamic contrast.

I don't consider bigger box and higher power voltage as an obvious disadvantage. I'd rather say it's a chance for developer to add something "extra" to the sound and features. I don't mean to criticize Smoothie at all. I'm sure it's a good product. Hope to try it one day.
