I have tapewounds on my L2K. I love it. Incidentally, I tried the same tapes on a hollow body bass thinking that it'd be perfect. They were terrible. sucked the life right out.

Owning both a P Bass and a Jazz

I have that issue too. It honestly has kept me from pulling the trigger on a new one more than once. Not sure I need to agonize over yet another great bass to take out.
Agreed! I've owned Fenders intermittently over the years,and really liked the 2 late model ones i had very well,but sold/treaded them.
Having said that, I am loving these 2 GL's. The lb100 is a '17 model. I don't know when the jb2 was made,but it seems to be made to the same high quality standard as the lb100.
The LTF set stands for Low Tension Flats.
I have used Labella tapewounds on some of my other brand basses,though.
I'm good with owning both! I play with two different groups. One is a small piano/bass/drums trio and the Jazz brings a lot of personality to that. The other is a larger band with guitar, keys, and brass, and the P sits just right in that mix.
I've got a 77 Precision and a mid-80s MiJ Jazz Bass Special (which is a P/J with a P body). Funny story is that in the mid 80s I was looking for a fretless J, spent a weekend in Chicago looking and the best I could come up with was the Special. It was my main bass for many years. But I still GAS for a classic J to match my classic P. Have considered just grabbing an MiM J; my MiM telecaster is pretty damn nice, actually. But then I wonder how much I'd even play it. My tribby L-2500 gets all my love when I'm playing BG these days. It does everything.
I'd guess that's pretty common. I have a 4 string passive "J" bass and an active "modern" 5 string. I don't play the 4 string often. It's an ok bass but not like my 5. I sometimes think I'd like a passive 4 string P but as I seem to only play my active 5 it's hard to justify.
Haha, I kind of felt like I replaced a P and J both with an L2500 - in passive mode, it definitely gets P like, a little further from J territory.
G&L makes a nice bass. Active 5 or passive 4. I find that for now, for me live, if I roll off the treble, roll to the neck pup and watch my playing style, my Roscoe gets a convincing P bass sound. Likewise, the bridge pup with a little bass boost gets me a nice barky J tone.
I thought at one point I could pull off both sounds with a P/J. When you really want the exact tone, that just doesn't work, apparently. Got rid of that, now I've got two Fender P's (both MIM, a Standard and a Player) but have never owned a Fender J. I hope to get one as my next bass. I love that yours match!
2002 MIM Jazz and 1996 MIM P bass. The Jazz is all original and the P has new pickups (Fender Originals) and a new pick guard. Trust me it looks way better.
Yep, gotta have both. I don't care if they're USA, MIM, Squire, Lakland, etc etc. As long as they play good it's all about the pickups and strings.
Yah, I tried to achieve that with an L2500. Amazing basses that can get close, but never exactly there on both counts, P or J....

I own a MIA Precision with Flats a MIA Jazz with Rounds and a Player Precision with Rounds, and I prefer the Precisions. I have never really bonded with my Jazz as I find it very thin sounding, at the moment it just hangs on the wall.

I have these three G&L's, a Squier VM 70's Jazz with Dimarzio Area P's and the Franken PJ with EMG Geezers in it. I have more I can dig out but it doesn't matter. I'm selling all except the G&L's in this picture. The LB-100 (P-Bass) is what I ALWAYS go back to. It is an absolutely INCREDIBLE instrument!

It's what i had hoped my used jb2 was going to be,but i was fooled by the typically bad GC online photo. I'm still extremely pleased with the bass,though!
