Ozzy Calls It Quits!!!

Ozzy was one of the idols of my youth; not for his vocal qualities (he has little and admits that) and not because of his song writing ability (I believe Geezer wrote most of the Black Sabbath lyrics). It was because of the frontman he was, by my estimation: one of the best in rock music at one point.

I feel for Ozzy. I can relate in too many ways. I hope he's not experiencing all the real ills of banging up against his mortality.

I can no longer gig, but I am recording my Gluteus off!

Here come the haters, TalkBass never lets us down. :rollno:

As far as I'm concerned Ozzy had a great voice for a long time and only in the last quarter of his career or so has it been showing its age. From 1970 well into the 90s at least. His singing on the early Sabbath albums wasn't just good enough, it was a different style with a creepy vibe that nobody else can emulate and it fit that band perfectly.

As a celebrity he's had great success, too. The more ridiculous stuff he gets himself into the more he comes out winning. His autobiography is hands down one of the funniest books I've ever read. He admits he's been an ass much of the time but he is always the loveable class clown.

I wish him the best and hope he at least can get comfortable as he rides into the sunset.

Agree big time. He was a great vocalist and frontman. Nothing like him out there. Was a blast to see him with Sabbath and solo a long ways back. No interest in seeing him at this age though.
