P Bass and the Grammys

But no, they've all been saturated in a sea of harmonic anonimity.

No, it's OK. There will be no war. We've already established that if you want an authentic Fender P sound, the logical thing to do is buy a boutique bass or get a custom build so that you can dial the Fender P sound in perfectly. You are among friends here.

I'm not going to the Grammy's anytime soon, but hell, if I'm playing the show, I'm using the tried and true for my 4 minutes and 30 seconds of TV fame. Ain't gonna be no stinking battery or all kind of knobs to accidentally hit during that song, no sir, though I use a battery loaded bass on most of my gigs now.

And hell, it just looked cool all those Fenders didn't they. The Beach Boys tribute was full of Fender eye candy.

What a great show, cept for the Chris Brown jonk. Rejoice about the P time.

Gotta say again, I really like your band...I mentioned that to you on a forum several years ago. Just a fantastic formula and sound. I'm extremely jealous! Wish you guys the best!

I wonder how many of them, upon strapping on their p-basses, noticed everyone else doing the same thing and thought the musical equivalent of "the same dress as me!"

Sure, but the upright sound is very different than electric bass and not used frequently in pop music. So let me rephrase, the P bass is *the* sound for electric bass. Certainly *the* sound when recording and playback was good enough to actually hear the bass instead of the click from the fretboard and the strat that they doubled an octave higher over the upright.

Thank you for not blasting me guys...
I just saying that to be so many choices (Tons of Money)... any bass guitar that u can buy... everyone choosing Fender and Gib... sponsorship have to play a roll...
Now everyone wants a "P"

If Fender or Gibson sponsored the grammy's you would not have seen a Ric or a Spector. And there would have been a commercial probably thrown in(from Fender). Now if the bass players are endorsing artists then you can see why the Fenders were all over the place.

And for those who may not know, Garry Tallent of the E street band has a Signature Spector.


How many none musicians at home can point out a particular brand of bass?

Peace to you my friend. And if I had the money, I'd buy you that custom build. You are ready for it. I hope to see you get that build and post pictures here for us to enjoy.

You know, there were one or two posters who said, "Hey, why are all the pros playing Fender P's? Do they know something I don't know?" And we basically told them, take that thought and push it down. Dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn. Downnnnn further. Push, push it downnnnnnnnnn. These are the cretins who don't deserve a custom build but always manage to come up with the jack for one. Oh well, such is life.
