Just received my 62 sunburst today - yippee!!! Been wanting one for decades!! (incidentally, the wet look on the fingerboard in pic 2 is due to me oiling the fingerboard to try and counteract the traditional "Winter dry out" due to the joys of central heating
is that an actual '62?
i just got my '07 '62 reissue, i can't wait until it's all old and beat up and greazy and funky.
but i must say, i'm very un happy about fenders QC.
it's takin' me hours and days to get this thing playing right...but i'm close
and it came with some body scars...oh well, just the beginning of many more

My bass isn't a reissue. The original scratchplate has shrunk over the years (oh the joys of celluloid!!), that's why you can see the shielding plate showing - like the vintage P-bass equivalent of girls flashing their underwear when they bend over! hahahaha
It's nice and lightweight, but not overly so. Plays and sounds really great (but that's just what you'd expect from a P-bass right?)
On the reissues, do they have the shielding plate?

Gorgeous 62, is it a refin? I only ask cause it looks like it chips like my reggie hamilton, which has the poly finish rather then the nitro.
Anyway, Im already a member because of this lady, Marllyn...
... and boy do i miss her, but im not sure if Im a P kind of guy so she was a bit to elegant for me (i.e. expensive) So I just recieved this lovely gal...

Allow me to introduce Jamie, she's a 24 year old japanese beauty and in the top three P basses Ive played (which include an original 62 and 64, a beavy of custom shops one of which I owned, and a Pino sig which to me ranks #1 of those!) I just ordered her jewlry and thumbrest which will go on tomorrow before her debut performance.

OK..now i got a boner...
Ive just put a tort pick guard on my HW-One. looks even nicer now. Its the first tort i have owned and while i like it i still might change it for a Black pearloid one instead.
I like it...!!!
What brand pick guard is that, I would like one for my Hwy One

My P-bass after closer examination looks like a '61 - serial no's and neck date show that. As for the finish - full nitro matey - no poly on this beauty sweetie! hahaha
It's funny how the old finishes are so sought after. They craze and flake as the nitro dries, so in another 20 years will it all dry out and fall off completely?
Sounds like the vintage instrument equivalent of us older guys contemplating the onset of male pattern baldness! hahahaha

One of several Fender P basses I own.
This one's a 1994 MIJ '62 Reissue with MIA vintage pickups fitted as standard. The finish is teal green metalflake. It feels just about and sounds just about as good as my original 1963 L Series P bass.

Me and my P-bass in London, England - the large tower and clock is "Big Ben" which is part of the UK's Houses of Parliament (maybe I should have been holding a Bootsy Bass for this location? hahaha)
