I'm in the process of building essentially this with a much less reliced lacquer finish.

Transparent white blonde on 1-pc swamp ash body and 1-pc quarter sawn maple neck (1-3/4" nut, late '50s soft V to C profile) from Musikraft with a custom made black anodized aluminum pickguard.

Getting swamp ash grain perfectly filled and sealed level/flat takes some work.

Lujon had a thread to choose which color combination looked best for his Precision. It got me thinking - I love the look of a P-Bass and it would be great to see all the different color combinations for P-basses here on TB. So, in order to not hijack Lujon's thread, here is a new one. Post your P-bass pics and let us all check out your colors!

This is my Player Precision in Ocean Turquoise. It originally came with a tort pickguard, but I replaced it with mint green. It looks blue in the pic, but more green in person.

Mint was a GREAT choice for this finish … very left-field and I would never have thought of it, yet it looks so right! Well done.

I realize they've always looked like that, but so many of these posted PBasses with gorgeous bodies . . . . and plain necks. I'll never get it.

These were actually deluxe basses trying to do something different (could be really heavy and the active electronics were sketchy), but Fender never made PBasses before or since as pretty as these were to me, the early 80's Precision Bass Specials:

Walnut body and neck.

A current-day version of this with EMG pickup/internals would be BIG fun.
