As would I. But I would NOT do : cocktail hour, introductions, 1st dance, father /daughter dance, garter belt, cake cutting, the chicken dance, wagon wheel, or a tux.I would do a professional, high quality job, like I always do.

Yes, it's a special day so don't lie to the band. Gotta pay wedding money if you want a wedding band to do all your special wedding stuff. These folks lied to avoid paying. You just contradicted yourself. That's the gig. If you just want to do what you want to do regardless of what is expected, then you aren't being professional.
A wedding is a very special day in family's lives. It's not about you. If that's how you feel, stay home and don't ruin their party.
Hope it goes well. These kinds of gigs can be quite enjoyable. That age group will appreciate your playing, even if they don't dance much. You may very well get people asking for your cardThat's what this one is going to be like. I should have said so in the OP. The couple is in their 60s, maybe 70s, and they asked for a bunch of old jazz standards.
Like I said, I don't mind. I'm going to be polite and professional like always, if for no other reason than the band leader is a guy who gives me a lot of work. I just find it odd.
Maybe nothing, and you're probably right, but you have to admit it's a hell of a detail to deliberately hide.Seems like a lot of assumptions are being made here. I'd say there's a real good chance that the couple getting married just want to have a party, and are going to forgo all of the hokey wedding stuff. With that in mind, if they just wanted a band for their party, what did they do wrong?

We'll play your wedding, but we have rules.
1. No requests. NONE.
2. Father of the bride dance, etc, will be done by a DJ, not us. If you want that stuff from us, we will play songs AS a DJ, and there will be an additional fee.
3. We're not a wedding band. If you are looking to make your reception fun by having a live band, that plays classic rock, then we're your band.
We've played weddings, and they have been quite happy with us. But I'd just as soon not, unless you're going to pay us enough. If you pay us enough, we might forget the rules above, but that whole request thing could be a problem if we don't know the song.
