Passive Goodness

Ok so here's the deal. Its time to add a new bass to my stable and I just want some opinions from you guys. Right now I'm Playing and Active StingRay and Bongo, and a Passive P-bass. I want another Passive Bass and here are the 3 on my list.

Fender American Vintage 62 Jazz
Gibson Thunderbird
Rickenbacker 4003

They're all right around the same price give or take so it basically comes down to which is the best quality and can fit in styles that range from funk to jazz, to punk and metal. Keep in mind that any of these will be getting ordered sight unseen because none of my local dealers have one in stock.

My vote is for the Ric. Love my 4003. An EBMM Sterling is my back up. 2 very different sounds obviously. I had tried many EBMM's Sterlings and Stingrays but none made me want to buy them. The one I bought really hooked me though so I am not sure if the others I tried just had cruddy set ups or what. The Ric I picked off the wall at the local store (they only get about 2 a year) and bought it after 5 minutes of playing. I had an Epi Thunderbird. Not a Gibson but the same idea. One of the classic bass shapes ever but I could never get comfortable with the bass. Found the high frets tough to get to and could never find a position for the bass on my body that was comfortable.

Bottom line is that a Ric is the only bass out of these 3 that I would buy site un-seen or un-played.

I almost voted Jazz but since you've already got one Fender I figure the Rick will give you something completely different.
