Patriotic GAS

That money is meant to help fight the C Virus spread. You are supposed to use it for whatever you feel/believe will help. Dr. visits, vitamins, eating healthy, toilet paper, disinfectant, staying home. Things like that. Ahything else is misuse. YMMV.
A stimulus check is a check sent to a taxpayer by the U.S. government. Stimulus checks are intended to stimulate the economy by providing consumers with some spending money. When taxpayers spend this money, it will boost consumption and drive revenues at retailers and manufacturers and, thus, spur the economy.

Well, kind of...Forbes reports that the check is called the CORONA VIRUS STIMULUS CHECK because the economy is slowing due to the C-Virus outbreak. Businesses are closing and people are without work making decisions like '"should I keep the lights on or go to the doctor" This was originally meant to help those people and the very poor elderly population. For those who don't have the problem now, they should hold on in case things get worse which the government says is inevitable. Think what you want.

The last time the government gave us money intended for stimulus, most people banked it. Given the uncertainty of when things are going to be over, most people are going to either bank it or use it to pay for essentials. I don't care what people spend it on, I just think that it isn't going to provide much stimulus.

I'm not beating up on you, bhendrix. You're exactly right as to the intent.

As far GAS is concerned, I'm good as far as gear goes. I have 8 instruments (4 bass, 4 guitar), all the recording gear I need and more computers than any really should have.

That was not my understanding. Lots of people who are not providing essential services are hurting. Someone, like me, with good insurance and job security can help someone by buying a few things. I am all for spending on important things, but everyone’s livelihood is important to them.

My wife wont get any paycheck until end of next month and that is if everything gets back to normal. Fortunately, we can live with my salary.

If I get any money from the government it will go directly to the saving account. I will decide what to do with it when this crisis has passed by or when things get worse, you never know.

You are right...who am I. It's just something that really bothers me, I'll see myself out. Good day.
I may not get anything special myself because for all I know, there may not be enough students signed up for the summer school class I teach every summer. Also, my church job playing bass is gone for the foreseeable future, and that will cost me $200 a month. At most, I will finish paying off my Geddy Lee, something I was planning to do before the sky started falling.

Please no politics, just GAS.

It appears that substantial stimulus is coming our way soon. Some of that money will be earmarked for some responsible adult things, but we should get enough that I can pass some GAS. I know some things I might buy, but I talk about my GAS so much, I want to hear what others might do to musically boost the economy?
Depends on how closely my wife is watching the news and the mailbox

Unless I am mistaken, the money will go to those who's hourly jobs have been affected. I do not believe it is for every salaried employee. However, things are changing daily and I may have misunderstood some details.

I personally would not use a dime to buy musical gear. It's not Christmas, it's for financial relief (late bills, house payment, rent, etc).

I am a Teacher and a salary employee.

I didn’t see anything about salary vs hourly, only considerations of income itself and some adjustment for household size

I think the tone of this discussion reflects the fear and uncertainty we are feeling. I would be a liar if I said I felt the same about GAS as I did two weeks ago. First of all, I want to live through this! I can also see me making bass a pure hobby with no ambition to play out. I was getting tired of the music played at my church, and I would love less commitment on Sunday. I could see me dropping down to two or even just one bass. Bass is my passion, but history is my profession. I want to do more in my profession with my time on this planet Earth.

I have taken no money from our Uncle since we parted ways when my military obligation ended and I don’t intend to start now. I return all my tax return checks and don’t participate in any government connected activity beyond required compliance and licensing.
