Patriotic GAS

I think there is a natural instinct to hold on to money because these are scary times. If a person is comfortable buying gear, cool, but remember that selling a bass in a lockdown may be very difficult or impossible if you decide you need the cash.
Absolutely agree. And part of what happens during a downturn (and arguably contributes) is that people hang onto money rather than spend it. It's a very natural reaction based on confidence in the economy. Some will indeed save, and hopefully many will spend and keep things moving. Even those who save will eventually spend it on something.

The thing to keep in mind is this: economies improve. It may take a while, but it will.

Please no politics, just GAS.

It appears that substantial stimulus is coming our way soon. Some of that money will be earmarked for some responsible adult things, but we should get enough that I can pass some GAS. I know some things I might buy, but I talk about my GAS so much, I want to hear what others might do to musically boost the economy?
I would really like to spend it on a DNA-800 amp. At only 4.8-lbs, it would be much easier to haul around than my 36-lb. amp in its rack. And it's a great sounding amp!

Not sure I can pull that off though. Still need sell some cabs and so far I've only bought music gear with gig money. I do get a special price on it because I'm a member of their Endorsing Artist group, but it's still a good chunk of change. I might however use a classic chess "fork" maneuver. I could mention the amp to my better half and then settle for a new $150 Sushi Knife that I've wanted for about a year now.

Odds are though, it will just go to paying bills...oh well, it's fun to think about it anyway.

Mm. Sushi. Good luck on the knife.

I was debating trying out a single PJB c4 cabinet @24lbs vs a Yamaha BB735a so I could leave a 5 string P/Jish bass at the jam spot and commute to fro with either nothing or just my pedal board. The amp I'm replacing however, dictated it'll be some time before I have either. I could've gotten a less expensive amp and a new cabinet for the price of the Subway, but I want to see what the amp can do for myself.. and hopefully it turns out to be a way better choice than the horrible design of my old amp. I'm almost certain it will be.

My 4x10 is 65lbs, I've had some of my tailbone and a herniated disc shaving away to give my sciatic nerve some breathing room and I have a bum shoulder. I've resorted to a hand dolly for getting it up and down stairs.. and it is more time and work than just risking the knee lift and putting my shoulder in a weird (for me position.) But for the price I paid for the cab it was a hard sale to me before I needed an amp. My musical project is in developmental stages, and it's slow going with 1, sometimes 2 days a week of collaboration. I mostly run direct.

Still.. i love the idea of one c4 at home, and another at the jam space.. if I ever needed to it could lift each one with my hands while I've got my bass strapped to my back and my head hung over my shoulder. My bandmates are the type of dudes who would ask me if I needed help before I needed to ask for help though when we get to the point where we have to provide our own live sound. Might be a good thing I can't get my hands on one to see what they sound like with my amp/bass/technique.. or the subway might not have been an option.

Maybe I'll look into that next year.. or the bass.. I keep eyeballing the yammy too, and the new ibanez multiscales sporting Nordies.

I think ultimately there will be a point where my gas is quelled and I'm satisfied with my collection.

Maybe you could donate to ISIS as well.
