Paul Gray form Slipknot found dead

Yep, Sorry folks but Jimmy Makes some good points. As blunt a Jimmy may be sometimes ;)
there's truth there.

I've been 7 years sober now and yes, we are all accountable for our actions, not everyone chooses to believe that, but it is true regardless. 3 things will follow from addiction: jails, institutions and death. Death, unfortunately will happen to us all, or at least what we know of this life will cease.

After stating that, RIP, Paul.

What a load of crap that is. I've seen first-hand the destruction that can be wrought by drugs and addiction. I'm not allowed to listen to music? Give me a break.

You're allowed to listen to music; just be aware that most of the greatest music in the modern age was the brain child of alcohol or drugs. Show me a musician that has never had a drink, smoke, or some illegal substance, and I'll show you the Jonas brothers.
I've seen more than my fair share of lives going down the toilet from substance abuse; so what's your point. When I got serious about staying alive and being sober that meant giving up on being around musicians a lot. A lot of us are **** ups; it's just part of the game.

And spoken from someone that has been through it and is now in recovery. Thank you! :)

I don't want to admit it since I'm a huge fan of Paul's and Slipknot's work, but I think it's drugs too. If it turns out that way, it's damn shame, a damn dirty shame. There's a reason why I never touched the hard stuff and just thinking about this makes me not want to touch the stuff more.

RIP Paul. :(

I am sorry for his family, friends and fans.

I am a little disgusted by those taking this opportunity to moralize about drug use and addiction. This is the very same mentality that allows some people to believe it's OK to show up at someone's funeral with protest signs.

Show some class, please. Nobody's perfect and nobody here knows what really happened or why.

Im pretty sure the first article I read about this stated that drugs were recovered from the scene.

I won't demonize the guy for making bad choices, though. He messed up and now other's have to suffer for his actions.

To be honest, I havent listened to Slipknot in a long time, and as a bassist his playing on their 1st record (the one I know well) didnt really stand out to me. Maybe I'll give it a listen on my way home today.

ya, sounds like a **** to me, and slipknot was never good, so its almost win win. I feel bad for his wife though.

YOU sound like a **** to ME! slipknot was my 2nd fav band. even if you dont like him you can show some respect for a dead man! especially a dead man who shared the same interests as you! he was my inspiration. Rock In Peace Paul! :bassist: \m/

Rocker246: don't let Ayliffe ruffle your feathers like that bro, he's obviously into a different genre than you and it's ok that he doesn't like Slipknot.... Ayliffe just wished he made the $$$$$$ that Slipknot has made, he's only jealous....
youre right i shouldnt have gone off like that, i was already mad about quitting my band when i heard the news and his comment about paul being a **** sent me over the top. and i shouldnt be mad at Ayliffe, i should be mad at JimmyM for telling him that

Weird thing is: I should be dead about 7 or 8 times over, the way that I was going about it. I consider myself very fortunate because of this and even more since i've been married for 2 years and have a 1 year old son.

I really wish Paul had that opportunity, but unfortunately...... no dice....that sucks.

While we don't know for sure, those of us who've spent days locked in a hotel room trying to calm the hunger, have an idea of what happened. It's sad that addiction affects so many artists and that the world loses so many to the disease. Maybe those of us that KNOW should start a "Bassist In Recovery" group so that any of the mucians that are here that might be struggling could get an idea of where to go.
