Paul Jackson Bad Pocket???

I know I'll be flamed for this, but over the years I've listened to Paul Jackson, it sounds to me like he has bad pocket and poor technique. Listen to Hang up you Hang ups, Actual Proof, Spank a Lee, Palm Grease and many others. Maybe my ears just aren't big enough, but he sounds like he just doesn't get the groove. Can anybody talk me down?

The cat's unique and very funky to my ears... I don't know what to tell you...

I beg to differ--I think he sits in the pocket pretty tight. I've never really heard anything by him where he really sits at the front of the groove, but that's what makes him so funky in my opinion, and to me he was a good counter to herbie hancock's left hand, which covered bass too, as hancock always seemed to sit on top of the groove in his basslines to me.

"hang up your hang ups" not in the pocket??????

Dude, your stereo must be broken

would love to hear just the isolated bass and drums for HUYHP,s
I think paul jackson was really inventive the way he did that track.
