Double Bass Peacock Blows off Costello...

That's more like it guys. We'll get those 30 pages yet.

I wasn't at the gig, I've enjoyed reading the claims of what went down. I don't care what happened, but comparing EC and GP artistically is like apples vrs. oranges. Feel free to quote me on page 30.

Apples and oranges are both fruit. They both grow on trees. They both have skin, stems, blossoms. Both can be made into juice. What's the problem?

I believe we established the gay thing around page 15 or 20.

Yeah, but it's worth coming back to.

This thread has it all, we've called each other gay, objectified an actress with MS, bathroom humor, been overdramatic, conspiracy theories, cute furry animals...

This should become the catch all random **** thread. Just keep it going forever. See if we can eclipse the "what do you guys drive?" and "What do we TB'ers look like?" threads.

At least until my shoulder heals and I can go back to playing the bass again...or until some new string or amp rumor starts.

Ya think?

I think the horse's feelings about this thread can best be expressed in a monologue from the 1979 film "The Warriors" staring Michael Beck and James Remer.

"Ajax: I'll shove that bat up your *** and turn you into a popsicle."

Elvis walks into a bar, with a peacock under his left arm and wearing a turban.

He says to the bartender______________
Elvis walks into a bar with a peacock under his left arm wearing a turban. He says to the bartender wanna see this peacock play the bass for me?

Bartender says "yea but let me get it on the marquee first and sell some tickets". "Ok" says Elvis but I don't know when he'll play the bass next, he just does it when he wants too, he sure as hell won't do it if I just ask him too.

Bartender says "that's ok, just let me sell the tickets first."

So the bar is full and Elvis is stroking his peacock but the bird doesn't play a note. He just poops on the Elvis's shoes and looks smug. Meanwhile the natives are restless and demanding their money back. The internet is going crazy and rumors and innuendo are flying. The whole thing is a big mess.

The bar looses money, Elvis looses face, and the Peacock is dissed for not playing when Elvis asked him to.

Moral of the story: Don't ask the Peacock to play unless you can put up with some sh-t.

Personally I think it shows a lot of condescending elitism and general lack of class on Mr Peacock's part. Elvis Costello is great musician and a heck of a nice guy. Lee Konitz(whom i have met numerous times and am working with next week) is also a heck of a nice guy. You would think out of respect for Konitz and his birthday celebration - Mr. Peacock would have played the three tunes. This story disgusts me.
