Peavey MiniMega 1000

im hoping I can find the sweetspot with this peavey -- im just trying to achieve that ampeg svt tone and sustain with rip with this Peavey and its not happening - i doubt it will at all - even on a slide up the neck - it doesnt have that rip and sustain AT ALL .. thats 75% of my style and tone -- IDk ..Ill keep trying

Maybe add an SCR DI in front of it?

A couple of posts up from yours @BassPilot says it screams SVT

My experience with the Mega is that it seems to like pedals.

Find one used - could be a cost effective and lighter way to get you there

Late to the party. I've always used valve/solid state lumps and having tried a couple of class D's (tte 800, ampeg pf500).. Feels like something wasn't quite there? Using a Vt bass in front of the mini mega into a 610 cab......is this gonna give me a punch like a iron head?
Are people still happy with the MM? Looks cracking value to me

Its hit or miss, like any other amp. I thought it was great bang for the buck.
Folks were really excited at the prospect, but much of the interest had wanted by the time it actually came to market

So my minimega died half way through rehearsal last night after a slight burning smell. Turned off the power and pulled the fuse. Looked good and tested good. No idea where to go from here. I'm bummed because now I have to lug around my great sounding SVT4-PRO again. I guess I did say I needed to work out more. Lol any ideas what I need to check for? I bought it lightly used from guitar center so not warranty I'm thinking.

No. I can't afford to pay for repairs right now.
If you are not qualified to service it yourself, then you are pretty much out of options IMO.

You might be able to get a few dollars by selling it as is to somebody who has access to qualified service, but by the time shipping is factored in, it might not be worth much.

Hello everybody.
The same question here, I need schematic or repair advice on the typical MiniMega1000 problem described earlier- the amp is working fine (gain, volume, tome part) itself, aside of the features controlled by the microcontroller board (incl. effects and lights).

I did check the contacts, the board, MC IC, but cannot identify the issue, so if the reference manual or schematic or good advise available, please share. )))

Just wanted to throw my recent experience into the ring. Bought one used beginning of April, used primarily for headphone practice and a handful of rehearsals, then one day after breaking for lunch it wouldn't power on, just the fan spun.

Can't tell when it was made, as the serial number sticker was peeled off. Took it to the closest listed Peavey support shop in my area, and the bad news is that the power board is the failed component and they don't have any available and it costs $350 if and when it's available. I paid $425 for it. There is no good news :( Super disappointed, as I liked what it had going on, and it made load in a one-trip scenario. Any leads on replacement boards anywhere? Thanks!

Not good news, it looks like Peavey has discontinued this amp. Kinda good news; there is one in the classifieds for 375.

If I could find another 1516 I would buy it for sure. Then I would sell my Subway 112/115 stack. Its a great stack but I haven't found I miss it - even with just one 1516.

The total cost of my brand new Mega/1516 rig was $1100 CAN$ + tax. That's the cost of one Subway 115 here.

This Peavey gear is just ridiculous value and sounds great
Sad they don't make them. Found an older one with Black Widows in it.

Is that board not repairable?
Apparently not, it's akin to trying to repair your own computer motherboard :/ Peavey is having a hard time getting support personnel and replacement parts in general, according to the licensed Peavey dealer I spoke with. The real question now is, should I go with my second choice (due only to price), the Mesa TT? :D
