Peavey T-40 Club Part 2

If you're a guitar player I'd go for it. It's a nice instrument and though I wouldn't purchase it as an investment, probably going to increase a bit in value. They are still common and though prices have gone up a bit, they're still probabably the best deal going for a vintage USA guitar.

I can play guitar. But I'm not a guitarist if you know what I mean.

But I think I'm safe for the time being. My GF has a pretty extensive guitar collection. So I can continue to just use one of hers while I'm in the process of saving for a Supro Huntington I - which I need like a hole in the head.

So little time and money - so many wonderful guitars and basses…

My stepdaughter helped out by taking pictures of pictures for me.
Here are 2 shots of my 1st T-40. The pics are from circa 1983.

IMHO thats a sienna burst but I cant be sure. Its also impossible to see but there is a black thumbrest on the pickguard. For the life of me I cant remember if it was glued onto the PG or if it was screwed into the body.

when rolling the tone knobs down in single coil---can you get a tone off single coil sound before it switches over to humbucker?

Quick answer no, but the tone on 8, for instance, has less treble than the tone on 10.

Nice! Mine looks just like that, Burst (mines maybe a little lighter?) and rosewood. I've owned a few of these basses in varying configurations, and have seen my fair share out in the world; the rosewood ladies don't come up at often. I'm trying to buy back my natural/maple i sold a fella a few years ago, but he loves it too much.

I had two, but one had darkstars in it. Kept the neck, but sold off the body and replaced it with a custom mahogany body shape kind of like a Wal or Decade. Still have it.

I have 2. First one was one of the originals sold in my area (6 digit serial number). The second on is one of the All Zero s/n basses I had a chance to grab from a buddy. At one time I had one strung BEAD but have reverted back to normal since.

I've a sunburst Toaster model I keep strung with roundwounds.

Then there's my natural Ash models. 1 of those is strung with GHS flats,another has a 2 band EQ, humbucker only wiring and has La Bella nylon tapes. My last T40 is modded for 5 strings and has La Bella Jamerson flats.

I am thinking of one t40 with ghs flats and one with roto tru bass 88 tapes

your thoughts? I am not a big fan of rounds and their zing.

I tried the GHS flats at the request of another TB'er,just happened to have a set in the cupboard Not the smoothest flats I've tried but no compliants with sound or tension. I do prefer TI jazz flats but nothing wrong with the GHS in the slightest.

The Rotosound Tru Bass were my first experience of tapes,35 years back, and I loved them. I got a shock when I saw the price of them these days and opted for Status Hot Wires .045 to .105,the Status had less thud and were slightly brighter. Sadly my Status strings were discontinued but I got 3 of the last 10 sets

Just thinking out loud and trying to gel my thoughts with the distant memory of TruBass tapes. If I was using them today I'd run through a graphic EQ pedal for better control between dark thud and clarity.
