Peavey US Made Millennium Basses

I really just didn't like the feel of how it played. It also sounded very tinny...

What do you think it was in terms of the playability that was different about that one? Was it setup ok? Problems with string tension? I'm just curious. With CNC machine-made instruments there should be very little structural differences from guitar to guitar. Makes me think it was either a fluke (warped neck?) or some human error in set up. Either way it's weird that six basses were fantastic and one wasn't.

FWIW I like the Millenniums so much in terms of playability I would likely pick even a badly set-up one over a well set-up but unbalanced tree limb that some people play. :hiding:

Plus models have the figured maple tops :hyper:, Hipshot open gear Ultralight tuners (instead of Hipshot Gotoh style tuners) :hmm: and a standard Hipshot Bass Xtender on the four-string models.:hyper: They also have Dunlop Straplocks standard.:spit: Otherwise they are the same.

Man, this bass is nice!!

I've got it strung with Sadowsky flats and the bridge saddles are bottomed out with no buzzes to be found - even on the B! String relief maybe as thick as a business card. I love it!!

I just couldn't get the neck to a point where I liked the playability. Looking back on it, it might have just been the strings though.

The other day I had some time to kill and went into a local music shop to play some basses. I played several including some new Peaveys and nothing impressed me as being as good or better than my USA Millenniums. Even the USA Cirrus 4 I played kind of left me cold. I just left feeling like I was glad I had my two Millennium 5s. Kind of a nice feeling actually. Anyway, nice basses for a great price.

and yet another!!!

Looks like all of those that I posted above have moved on to new happy homes. I was going to sell one of my Millenniums and save up for a Cirrus but I just can't bring myself to do it. guess it will just take me a bit longer to save for that Cirrus. Played my tigereye Millenium 5 at an outdoor gig last night through our full pa system and it sounded sweet. If you get a chance to snatch on of these up at a good price do it!

There is a pretty harlequin violet/gold maple fiver on Ebay right now. He's advertising it as a plus model, but it's not. It's also listed to start at at least $400 more than he is going to get for it. It's certainly worth his price and more in terms of features and quality, but unfortunately overpriced in terms of market value for the bass.

I got similar but 4 string and PLUS version (so I have D-tuner) for 310USD of Ebay - with all additional costs (shipping and duties) it was 480USD to my doors in Czech.....
I must say its maybe more underrated bass than my hamer cruise 2tek....

I am not sure if I can say without obtain any emotional attack :hiding: but Millennium has far more Musicman growl than my friend former 89´ MM Stingray....

Its greatly playable bass (I admit thin neck but understand it could be for many players problem) and capable of really low action!!!

Also overall quality of workmanship is great everything fits, perfect matching-definitely better one of USA production basses ( i take Fender STD USA as "industry standard" which is not as perfect as USA Millennium)

I´ve never played another Peaye(maybe long time ago one of their import...) but if their Cirruses are as perfect as Millennium USA it definitely must be great basses....

Hope that Peavies wiill get what they serves - RESPECT for their USA versions!!! I found that Peavey is not so popular brand of instruments - still cant understand WHY???

I ´d made research before I bought and I found that nobody complain against MIllennium basses.....everybody claims it is perferct bass (also those whose paid "original" 1000+ USD price....)

Good choice! I have a Millennium 5 Plus and 2 Cirri. The Peavey amplification gear in the 70's was reliable but certainly not stellar; a few people equate that with today's product lines without knowing the whole truth. That's okay...their loss!
