there are different chip versions, and i have 1.04 (which ART says is the latest one) and it works fine. i read the reviews on harmony central, and i noticed the two main problems were 1.) hard to use,
2.) noisy

well, its hard to use as any rack processor is. i have never seen a processor with a manual less than 80 pages. what people are upset with is that there are many parameters per effect, and they don't want to take the time to play with each control...really just like any big processor like it.
any as for the noise, i really don't have a problem with noise, they must have had noisy pickups, because i have played with it on my fender mim jazz, and it had some noise, and then i plugged my new bass (the one made by hambone) and it was just fine.


btw, Crazysean, nice sample, i had a bfx-708, and you should rock the pedal while you do the ring mod. it is really cool!
i also remember the synths being really cool! more samples!

Yeah, I did use the pedal later on in the full clip. I know what's there so far isn't very impressive (it's just an intro). I'm gonna try and upload the rest now...

EDIT: The patches "Time" and "Dual" will be comin next... And yes, the synths are pretty cool. :)

Sorry I've been gone. I have been really sick this weekend.

I also have the last v1.04 chipset and love my Nightbass.

OK, the issues some people complain about are as superbassman says.

Complexity: True, but after you get the feel for the unit I don't think its problem.

Noise: I think alot of it has to do with the bass you play. Like superbassman, one bass I have gives a bit of noise (active electronics) and the other (totally passive) absolutely clean. Just so everyone knows, the recordings I have done so far have been on the "noisy" one.

The only negative I can really say is I don't like is the expression pedals on the X-15 controller. You can actualy here the *steps* in the sound as you rock the pedal. In a live situation it might not even be noticeable. Ofcourse, this complaint isn't the processors fault.

I will upload some more samples as soon as I feel better.

"Icepack" is one of the coolest effects I've ever heard. I'd buy the entire unit just for that. "Gated Room 2" is aso very cool. "Phaser" seems pretty good too.

And finally, "Sld Cln Cho4 Sa" is amazing. How do play all that at once? Is there a "Hold" funtion or something?

As for my clips, well, I should have known better than to try and upload anything over 900k. I'm gonna try and get my friend to upload them for me... Trust me, it's worth it.

CrazySean, how I played that part on the "Sld Cln Cho4 Sa" preset is to let my right hand keep the basic driving bassline and my left I just hammered-on or plucked with my fingernail. A couple of the sounds were from plucking above the nut.

I hope to have me a DoD Bass Grunge soon to also put up some samples.

BTW, all of the presets I have uploaded have been with all settings at neutral, gain at half, pre at 50/50 blend. You can tweak the EQ settings, full tube or solid pre, and input gain settings. There are more adjustments if you want to get into editing parameters for each preset, which ofcourse you can save the new modified preset :D

BTW, where are all the Line6 POD people and others with effects?

Well actualy, it seems that I started the 250 craze on this board... Well Tim and I... I have had one on my board for well over a year, its one of my main gain pedals...

You may have started the craze, but I bought mine about 5 years ago (it was the first effect I ever purchased); I just never mentioned it before 'cuz I didn't think there was anything special about it. I also I have not used it in about 2 years. I believe it's really a guitar overdrive pedal.
Do you use it mainly for a gain boost?

Well, I have added 17 more samples. I decided I would include the preamps as well. I know alot of people may cringe at the thought but if my TE head took a dump at a gig I could use this unit as a DI straight to the PA. Lockout or beav2k2, if you think the preamps should be removed just let me know.

Again, where are all the other effects owners? :confused:

Lets build a database of effects here so we don't have to try and describe a sound but can let someone actually hear a recorded sample of it. I know there are alot of others here on TB that have effects pedals such as Dod, Boss, Zoom, Big Muffs, BassPODs and a host of boutique units. I actually thought we would have a few more people involved by now. Link Removed Hopefully this will grow with time :)
