Are the users who don't use the Like button the same users who never use emojis or emoticons?
Sometimes I post something I think is clever and will get likes. Usually it's a dud. But then some other throwaway post will get likes.
I award likes fairly often for funny, informational, well-written contributions. Also if someone takes an opposing position to something I've said but they're on-target, I'll give them a Like.
And sometimes a Like is just "Hey, someone read your post!"

Generally, I have noticed in my life journey, that people who show no appreciation or like for others don't even like themselves.
If you make me laugh, you're getting a like.

I like giving "likes". And receiving them. It's a friendly thing to do.
i give likes to say thank you for useful information or tells a story that's interesting to me or funny, whether on one of my threads or someone else's. i also like posts that make me laugh or where someone is acknowledging me or something i said. i also like posts where someone is sharing something with us - a new bass, for example.

Is it possible that giving a like is a gateway to deeper feelings such as love?. If one gives a like will they move on to love?. Some people are afraid of commitment, perhaps they are thankful on the inside but cant express their feelings by offering a like. I myself truly appreciate receiving a like when I offer something of use or interest. I love receiving helpful input ,now that is something I can like.
