ya know you can turn off notification of likes?Ok.... I think I doled out five likes before I reached the reply box. And I'll give an honest response with few yucks.... Yeah, I give likes. One particular thread here.... I like everything. It's a fast paced thread and it's the only way I know I read em. BUT..... Funny thing about these likes. They have become like heroin to a junkie for me of late. I made a conscious decision two weeks ago to step away from TB a bit. I Caved this morning and brought it up. Fifty odd alerts. Half of them "likes"........ But I stray a bit. Yes, I open doors for ladies. Give my seat to others, help broke down cars on the road. I am a polite guy and I will like most any post that gives me knowledge or a grin. Both I could use plenty of.
Yeah, baby!I like posts without actually hitting the like button. Also, WHO FREAKING CARES!?!?!?!?
There are people on social media, including TB, who like everything they see. I call them likers. I like only things I really like. If you overlike it diminishes the power of liking.
I just don't get two thing, someone always mentions. Sire, SX, Ibby, etc and gets likes.
I don't even think these people actually owned any of these guitars. Quite frankly I would be very cautious about recommending those brands along with others that gets mentioned often. I bought a bunch of them and I regret them for the most part. They just sucked out of the box. I have over 30 and I don't count those in the collection I have. They sucked enough to just sit in a box after the first 30 minutes.
I am pretty sure a lot of the peeps have no experience with what they are recommending when they say, buy an Ibanez or buy an SX. Which one do they recommend? I know Killed by Death actually owns and plays them so you can trust that guy, but when someone says a brand name without the specific model..... that's really iffy. They just type out the obvious that people take as a truth on TB. (not a fact but truth). The first one to recommend some brand or P bass gets 5000000 likes and some newbie ends up thinking it's the best thing on earth.
Another thing is people getting likes for answering the OPs question with a question and never getting back to the OP. Epitome of rude in my eyes. You ask a question, the OP answers it, then give feedback. what the heck is the point of asking a question to the OP if you're not going to answer it? I noticed, these are the same people that don't give likes. Any coincidence?
I doubt people responding on this particular thread do this but it's common on every forum. No one would ever do that in real life. You'd be classified as some part of the male anatomy if you answered the question with a question and never followed up.
At the end of the day, it could just be me but seriously, it's free to give likes. Make someone feel good. You get what you put in.
You get the most likes by saying something stupid or making someone look stupid, neither of which I like.
I give out likes like Halloween candy at the end of the night.......The other day I was scrolling through a thread where a lot of people were pitching in to help a member, and I was looking at the likes to see what advice people agreed with most.
It occurred to me that the OP didn't acknowledge any of the feedback with a like.
I then realized that I don't believe I ever saw that particular member "like" a post.
Liking a post is absolutely not a requirement for TB participation, but to me seems like the, "polite?" thing to do?
I started me wondering about the personality of such people, cuz I'm interested in such things. Are these the same people who never say thank you when someone holds a door for them? Are these selfish people? Completely self absorbed? Are these people who are full of pride? Are these people who simply hate the idea of "likes" on the internet?
I don't know.
Do you "like" posts.
Why or why not?
Do you have any thoughts or theories regarding people who never "like" posts?
Thought this might be interesting to kick around.

+1
I almost liked that but, figured what the H3l!.
So true. But I can tell, the members responding on this thread are the nice guys.
Do "likes" even matter?
For belly button lint to be awesome, you better have a very large jar full of it.![]()
It the highest honor they give on TB since they dropped the free Star Trek steak knife set with every 1000 likes.
