I think that got closed cause it became a thread just to give each other likes for no good reason.I don't anymore.
This reminds me of a thread I started a few years ago " the official Likes thread".
It was promptly shut down with the warning " don't do this again" :-/
I do say thank you to kind acts.
What's a Facebook?Y'all should really like on Facebook or Instagram if you like something. It's good for the content provider
I think a "dislike" button, or a dis button for short, should also include a pop up box where you have to write an explanation of why/what you dislike. If you don't enter any text in the box, the "dis" doesn't register. There should be a "dislike" option. I would like that. If someone's already suggested this very thing for example, then they could "dislike" this post for stealing their idea.
What's a Facebook?
I like posts where people are honest, it's OK to disagree, but honesty is key. That being said I HATE Neapolitan ice cream. There I said it. Whenever there's a birthday party and it's time to cut the cake and divvy out the ice cream and it's Neapolitan I sag in defeat and disappointment and I have to eat it anyway. Please World, stop making this reprehensible product. The other day I was scrolling through a thread where a lot of people were pitching in to help a member, and I was looking at the likes to see what advice people agreed with most.
It occurred to me that the OP didn't acknowledge any of the feedback with a like.
I then realized that I don't believe I ever saw that particular member "like" a post.
Liking a post is absolutely not a requirement for TB participation, but to me seems like the, "polite?" thing to do?
I started me wondering about the personality of such people, cuz I'm interested in such things. Are these the same people who never say thank you when someone holds a door for them? Are these selfish people? Completely self absorbed? Are these people who are full of pride? Are these people who simply hate the idea of "likes" on the internet?
I don't know.
Do you "like" posts.
Why or why not?
Do you have any thoughts or theories regarding people who never "like" posts?
Thought this might be interesting to kick around.

Like is, unfortunately, the only means of responding to a post without posting. It is an insufficient response for all the use it's put to, but it's all we got.
+1It's a helluva lot better than the old thread spam reply method where people said "+1" to the subject post.
Very succinctly and well put. I agree completely.People like getting likes. It doesn't cost anything to give one. Forums are a socially interactive construct. Likes are analogous to smiling at someone or thanking someone for good advice given to yourself or others. Maybe just gratitude for already having written what you were going to. Sometimes they are "read your post: got it."
"I never give likes." I'll bet you are a lot of fun at parties.
