The metal scene is totally dead in the Cities now. From what I understand, there aren't too many clubs for this style up there anymore and my friends all tell me the scene is pretty dried up...
Station 4( or the Lab or Ryan's) was the main metal club in st Paul and has been closed for a years or more and the staff there wouldn't put up with a clown like this(I used to live in my practice space above it)
The quest has been closed awhile(this guy would be *lucky* to play the Ascot room upstairs), I've played the "quest for metal" shows there that Earl set up(this was when they did the "quest for mayhem"93X shows on Fridays)
1st Ave is still kicking, but given his (lack of)reputation, I don't see this clown even getting in the 7th St entry...
So for clubs that host original heavy music that leaves the rock in Maplewood, the triple rock in between st paul/Minneapolis, Star Bar in northeast Minneapolis, and I'm not sure if these last 3 even exist anymore...
Where does Gigadead fit in this?? Well, they DON'T, AT ALL, and none of the better players I know up there would put up with the crap this guy seems to get off on....
I was talking to some friends about even if this guy did put a band together where would he book it?
The good news is that punk is making a big comeback with a lot of great young bands.
