My room was the 1st on the right 3rd floor, a soundguy (not anthony)lived across from me, this was 2004.... There wasn't really a room next to mine cuz it had its own corner next to the fire escape...

Then you must be the guy who roomed with a vocalist who would constantly howl "walk with me, walk with me".. ALL night long. It drove me nuts. Anthony was a really cool guy, but a bit too 'involved'. He was always there doing the mixing for bands and it got to be rather redundant. Sometimes it's annoying seeing the faces over and over again.. it's like they had a bed in the club or something. You couldn't walk in the club once without him or similar people always being there. That's kinda what I'm talking about when I say "monopolizing the stage" or "vultures" too. No matter where you walked, the same dudes were there.. backstage, on the stage, behind the board, etc.. very perturbing, always in your face. I think that's what people got sick of the most. Too much interaction. It's like.. dude, just go away already !!!

No, but I think I know who your talking about...i lived alone while I was there, and unless I was playing I'd go to the bar

So I'm the guy who sent him a reply to his CL ad, showing a link to this thread so he could see what a fool he looks like to the rest of the world... his answer was brilliant!

I see we're up to 18 pages now.... lets see if we can get to 100 before next weekend.

From Gigadeath or dead or whatever he calls himself..

"Nice. Now send us a link to a site where there are more than 5 pages of people talking about you and your band. I'd like to see it. I simply placed an add. Yep, nobody has heard of me."

This has become all that I dreamed it could be...

you're welcome.. ;)

to Mr. Gigadead or head or whatever... First off, your CL add was / is an insult to the musician community, of which TB is one of the largest. This place is where a lot or REAL musicians hang, and where musicians far more famous and important that you'll ever be have even been banned (recall Jeff Berlin)..

So take your self important, arrogant and frankly very untalented self out of here and get back to searching for clones for your "band"

I want to believe that.. But I don't. Unless the whole douchy ad is sarcasm, which it's not..

I've heard that so many times now I can't even count. My email box is filled with it. Let me ask you a question.. Do you speak to your boss the same way? Your idea of a "douchy ad" would be not having any rules then. Think of it like a job. I write the music, record it, master it, etc.. (however bad whoever might think it is, at least it's something) and now I'm looking for LIVE players. It's that simple. Take for example someone like J. Newsted or Trujillo, if you can honestly tell me that a group like 'tallica didn't use those guys as their "Metallibot", then you've got a point, otherwise you do not. Keep in mind I'm in no way comparing myself to that group, but is it not the same analogically speaking? I have strict rules. So? That means I'm an arrogant a-hole then.. I see. Alright then, I guess that means anyone who would be a future member of my group would just get walked on whatever way.. Personal issues, women issues, weed smoking, walking around in the hallway with a cellphone when other members just want to get the job done and go home. That's the type of nonsense I had to deal with for years and I'm not trying to lay some type of trip either, but it's all true. I have never been very popular with people and seem to be a magnet for serious negativity, even despite years and years of intensely hard work as a musician. Truth is, I' have my own viewpoints or methods of doing things and it's usually non-standard, so if I don't do things the by the trendy cattle herd 'norm', people always seem to have sh*t conniptions. Yeah, I play every instrument, record everything and have worked privately with many musicians for years, but most were generally unwilling to cooperate. It's like they never wanted to do anything different, so I had to keep making up more rules. The usual type of responses I'd get from musicians who've came to my studio over the years are things like "I could never play that" or "I just counted 27 songs in one" and even more condescending comments like "I can't play this, it's too boring", which was a drummer who wanted to play drum fills, but I told him he couldn't, so he quit. I simply didn't want drum fills, hence "non-standard". I just wanted a drum beat and that's all, nothing fancy. He couldn't accept that though. So for that he went and spread rumors that I was nuts and an egotistical a-hole. That's just one example. I've dealt with that type of garbage for years, as well as being called every name in the book.. "tyrant", "mentally ill", "unstable", "arrogant", "dictator", "douche", you name it.. There's so many things I've been called I couldn't even list them all. I'd literally need a synonym finder. Truth is, the way I see it, most people are either just jealous because they smoke too much dope and can't get through more than 2 songs or they want to contrive some huge cluster f*ck. I don't want that. I simply try to write decent heavier and original sounding songs, record them and look for musicians to play the stuff. Unfortunately though, the musicians who I meet or come to my studio always want to change things, but that's impossible because the songs are already finished. So they get 'bored', take out their cellphone, wander around in the hallway smoking weed, talk to the friends, b*tches or whatever. It's like they don't want to get anything done or even actually understand basic logic. Ironically though, none of this is going to deter me from doing what I enjoy. I'll just keep looking, writing, recording and do what I do. If people don't like my music or rules, then F them. I'm not a bad person, I'm just convicted in my methods and ways because I don't trust most other people's bull. Period.

I really think you have me mistaken for someone else.... Anyways, Anthony Columbus is one of the best sound guys I ever worked with and a killer guitarist, alot of those regulars there were great people who I miss.....

Your whole CL ad has a terrible tone to it, I've worked with micro-managers before but your requirements hit a nerve with me which is why I responded in way I did, I hate musicians getting treated bad, and your CL ad reeks' of this....

Suggestion, tone it down and you *might* get good players, or stick to your guns, that whole "pee in a bucket" business is silly along with almost everything else, but hey its your band.... I don't know and don't care either way....I'm out
