- I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
My idea of the perfect pj bass. First of all it has 5 strings, but it is a 4 string p-bass neck. The p pickup is a Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounder for the aggressive p-bass tone. The j pickup is a single coil wound to about 4k ohms. The preamp is a 4 band audere.
So with this bass I can go from thumping raw p-bass tone to a smooth jazz tone just by adjusting a couple of knobs.
This bass also sounded really good wired passive VVT.
The bridge is schaller and the body and neck are mighty mite. The finish is tung oil with mineral spirits mixed in. The jazz pickup is moved forward slighty from the traditional position.
