Pet Peeves, let's hear them.

OK, so it's been well over a year since the last post. So it's time to resurrect this thread. There's a few additional things that I've just got to add to my list:

1) TalkBass posts in which the first four words read: "Title says it all." (It should be obvious why this is so annoying.)

2) TalkBass posts in which the OP asks other members for their opinions about several pieces of gear - but can't even be bothered to tell us what those pieces actually are! Instead of using actual words, he just inserts links to the product pages of some online store (typically Muscian's Friend or Guitar Center), so that anyone who wants to help him has to go clicking all over the place, just to find out what the heck he's talking about. (This has got to be the very epitome of laziness.)

3) Subject lines in OPs that are so generically written that they describe nothing. Example: Posting a new thread in the Strings forum, requesting user experiences for two very specific makes & models of strings...but entitling the thread "Strings".

4) Writing misleading subject lines for new posts.

5) Here's an oldie but a goodie: Starting a new thread which asks for information or opinions...then impatiently bumping the thread within the next three hours (sometimes within the first hour!), usually with a peevish remark like, "Nobody?" or "Why won't anybody answer my question?" (So sorry we didn't all drop what we were doing to run to your aid. We didn't realize it was incredibly urgent!)

That's all I can think of...for now. :p

Hyperbole.

"oh my god, funniest thing ever"

"this is the best thing of my life"

Funnily enough, the few Americans I've met do this a lot more than anyone else I've met.

I also hate when people write the date like 1/4/13, or whatever. If there's two digits at the end, you need to put zeroes in front of the day and month please :p

Yeah I'm an American, and it annoys the crap out of me too. How bad is it when you can't stand the annoying verbal habits of your own people? :atoz:

Another example: "Awesome". In America, everything is "awesome" (See? I'm using hyperbole too! :ninja:).

The problem is, if "awesome" routinely comes out of your mouth several times per day, every day, to characterize even the most mundane and ordinary things, what word do you then use to describe that rare something that actually is awesome? :rollno:

It's a form of linguistic inflation... :hmm:

These days, if something good is not awesome then it is amazing. Some people seem to be very easily amazed.

One of my pet peeves is when people post only one word : "subscribed." Actually, notifying people in any way that you have subscribed to a post is annoying. Why should anyone care that you have subscribed to a post? I couldn't care less and I find it exceedingly lame.

Pet peeve? People that don't get it ^ ;)

Actually I dislike misspellings for the purpose of branding like: Kwikee Mart, Krispy Kreme, etc.

Silly, I know.

Used to sit by a dude at work that would tap on the floor with his feet... Loudly, and all day. Killed me. Wouldn't have been so bad if it were carpet, but we had those plastic things under our desks.

Also at work... People who leave a tiny bit of coffee in the pot and don't bother to make another one.

I also hate talking about relationships... With anyone. It bums my wife out pretty bad sometimes.

A lot of people don't know you can subscribe to a thread without javing to post something in that thread.
