Pet Peeves, let's hear them.

Roommates who complain about me not doing the dishes for the 3 days I was away and then proceed to not do ANY housework for months afterward. Or, basically, hypocrites.

Did you live with my housemates?!

Seriously, I had the same issue. My second-year assignment meant I was away for a weekend or so per month. Now my housemates used to leave their dirty dishes for ages, sometimes up to a WEEK at a time. 9/10 times, I used to be the one cleaning it all up, something which was conveniently forgotten when it came to my trips away and they'd then accuse me of being 'lazy'.

Coffee drinkers.
They cause traffic snarls from the drive up line being so long they are around the building out into the street blocking traffic for a couple of miles. And they leave their empty coffee cups everywhere; on shelves in grocery stores and department stores or any nearby convenient space other than trash cans. I have never been stuck in traffic for 20-30 additional minutes because of a long lunch line at a fast food joint and I happed to drive past and I dont find discarded soda/water/juice containers left all over the grocery store shelves.

Texting while you are having a conversation with someone, the urge to smack that little phone outta some peoples hands is nearly overwhelming at times.

And people who talk on their cell phones completely ignoring you as you cash them out, make some bloody eye contact, acknowledge I am a living sentient entity.

-Hightened arrogance. There's over-confidence, and then there's arrogance.
-Pompousness
-When people have the belief that money elevates them above others, that money makes them more important. Yes, money is essential, but more of it doesn't make you better than someone else.

And finally, the one that trumps them all for me: Aggressive drivers. The one's who'll never let you into their lane, the ones that'll speed up from a car length behind as soon as you put on your signal light. Those people make my blood boil fiercer than anything else. I hate that their 'bubble of comfort' that they call their vehicle makes them bolder. They'd never do that if they were walking or if they were face to face with somebody.

Ooh, ooh, I know! :hyper:

TBers who confuse "speaker" with "cabinet", as with a thread title that reads: "Recommendations for a new speaker?"...when the thread text mentions nothing whatsoever about speakers, and is all about which new cab to buy!

I know: a small thing. And I'm probably being anal by even bringing it up. On the other hand, sloppy writing usually reveals sloppy thinking. :rollno:

Got another one: TB members - usually n00bs - who expect other TB members to spoon feed them with very basic, obvious information - the kind of info that could easily be obtained via a 30-second Google search - then start bumping their own threads within the hour, all huffy and indignant that no one has shown up yet to rescue them from their own stupidity and laziness...

Ya want answers? Show me that you've first made even a cursory effort to do for yourself, and that you've put even a particle of thought into the question - before you start making demands on the rest of us. :eyebrow:

I tell ya, my "Ignore" list grows longer by the day...

People who pour the last cup of coffee and don't make a new batch.

Where I work the coffee maker is even hooked up to the wate supply so all you have to do is put coffee in a filter, slide in maker, hit button.

I have so many more but most of them come down to being lazy so I'll just say lazy people and excuse makers.

Craigslist or eBay ads for basses that say Fender or Gibson when it's actually a cheap Squier or Epiphone, don't waste my time and call it what it is.

Bad drivers who flip ME the bird when I honk and THEY are in the wrong.

Pet owners who don't realize that their house smells like ass.

A gripe session! Having just flown on 4 flights in the past two days, here are a couple:

1. People who think the "One carry-on plus one personal item" does not apply to them. It does not mean your suitcase, your laptop case, your shopping bags from the airport, AND a purse (mainly for women).

2. Airlines that do not enforce their policy regarding carryons.

3. People with oversized / overstuffed suitcases that clearly do not fit within the go/no-go gauge. (and the airlines that do not enforce it). Yeah, cause your oversized, wheeled thing might just fit into a volume that is less than it is. THat might work - just slam the compartment door harder.

4. People who "jump up" the minute the plane comes to the gate. SRSLY? You've been sitting still for a couple of hours. No need to futz with your luggage. Just have a seat for a minute or two more, wait patiently, and then exit the plane. Stretch your rear in the gate area.

5. IF YOU CANNOT LIFT YOUR CARRYON, YOU SHOULD NOT CARRY IT! The ONLY exception is an exceptionally older woman (>75 y.o.), or someone who recently had shoulder surgery. Come on - it isn't as if you have 100lb powerlifting plates in your suitcase (and if you did, you could probably lift them into the overhead anyway!). Disgusting.

Man, huge +1 on these! This trend of bringing the equivalent of two steamer cases per passenger onto planes is nuts (and it started long before airlines started charging for checked bags). I can't even put my jacket up in a bin anymore because we're all supposed to leave room for all those giant carryons. It's no wonder planes take much longer to unload than they used to.:eyebrow:

Another plane-related one: If you're so short that you can cross one leg over the other in a regular seat, let the tall people have the exit rows! We're often in pain in regular seats because they're way too damn small. This goes double if you're a senior citizen who clearly couldn't handle the exit door in an emergency, anyway---the amount of self-centeredness this requires is beyond comprehension.:spit:

Dirty roommates...

Also, friends that can't handle a little flak sometimes.

Example, my roommate does an awful job of washing the dishes. I approach roommate and directly explain the problem and that he needs to do them better next time. Roommate gets pissed and storms off.

Maybe if I had dodged around the bush and been all sweet about it things would have been fine but I just hate that.

People with carts in the store. They all seem to be oblivious to their surroundings. They will park their cart in the middle of the aisle so you can't get past. Or when moving they are walking with their head toward the shelves, not watching where they are going. Some will walk backwards into an intersection, paying no attention to oncoming traffic. Especially bad in Costco when it's crowded. There will be a big traffic jam when someone is in a big line of carts decides to stop and leave their cart while they go get something elsewhere.

These people drive to the store where there are traffic rules, but seem to forget any common sense regarding traffic flow in the store. Maybe we should apply a similar set of rules to store carts.
