Pete Wentz plays what bass?

Not to fan the flames, but i also know Pete and the rest of the band due to meeting Andy back in the day when he was in Vegan Reich and involvement other activist things. The band, as a whole, is made up of a bunch of rad dudes that, from what i have experienced, are just having fun and try not to take themselves too seriously. Pete IS a genuinly nice guy. Back in '02 they even stayed with me and my girlfriend at the time for Thanksgiving and were so appriciative and awesome that we took them in. I don't think Pete ever had the inclination to be the next Mike Watt or whatever... just having fun. I don't really see anything wrong with that.

As for the whole "marketing tool" aspect, i sort of agree. But, on the same hand, if seeing Pete Wentz makes a little boy or girl want to start playing bass what's wrong with that? And to endorese a cheaper and more affordable insturment just makes it all the better. It's a whole lot easier than when kids like me saw Cliff Burton and begged our parents for brand new Rics....

This'll hurt a few of you, but a sophmore in college IS a kid. Even if you wanna argue the "I can fight in a war and vote...grrrrr!!!", I'll counter with "inability to process emotions rationally", re: the 'in your face' that punctuated a post riddled with subjective holes passed off as fact predicated by your belief that you are closer to the "truth" than the rest of TalkBass.

Mike

Are you serious? Only, what, 30+ year olds are able to process emotions rationally? Hah, thats funny.

I agree. Im 16 and can handle emotions, opinions, etc. better than some 30 year olds. Mental and personal strength very from person to person. No need to put us all in one group.

Plus, I still have all my hair! :D

Dead serious, within the frame of the example I used. It's called "context". It's covered next semester. I might cover "irony" today, though. :)

Mike

As far as I can tell, and well, I'm sorry, I'm only a chemical engineering student, not an English major, you did say a sophomore in college is unable to process emotions rationally.

Were you talking about the college you went to? Was that the context it was in?

All I'm trying to say is that people of all ages and shapes have trouble processing emotions rationally. Look in the news during any given day. Please do not assume that every 20 year old going to college is the same.

Nice point.

And I'm not a kid, I'm a sophomore in college. In your face.

Heh.

Are you serious? Only, what, 30+ year olds are able to process emotions rationally? Hah, thats funny.

He's right, you know. You should be angry for that disrespectful age-ist comment (or "diss", as the kids say), but instead, you're laughing. Not rational.

Yeah. When I was sixteen... The truth is, as you get older your intellectual and emotional levels change. It's all about life experience. We can't explain it to you, and you can't accept that it's true. Don't take it personally.

And shut up about the hair!

So you may think, but at 16 I'm guesisng this is all based on assumption rather than any real life experience you have. Not an insult, just saying, in 16 years time you'll look back at yourself saying that and laugh.

Major-dropping speaks volumes, but the message is rarely the one intended.:hmm: To clear up what I said, I'll requote it for you to save you the pesky task of going back a page.
me said:

So, I specifically stated that a college sophmore is a kid. It shouldn't take an English major to decipher English, but whatever.
Were you talking about the college you went to?
You're proving my point....Really, I'm trying to help.
Was that the context it was in?
Alright, I'll connect the dots for you. As noted before, I stated that a college sophmore is a kid. I then stated that IF he was to counter with a particular argument (or something similar), then it would be debased by part of his quote.

So, dear talkbass youth, unless you are going to go as far as to say that a) you are a college sophmore, b) you think that the number associated with your birthdate makes you an adult and plan on stating that with a "grrrrr!!", and c) intend to end an argument riddled with assumptions with an "in your face"...it's quite likely that I wasn't referencing you.

Between your extremely impressive engineering classes, try to grab a logic one. They cover if/then statements.

I didn't. NEXT!!

Mike

I think I might start charging for this kinda service.
