Phone call?

I did it guys. It went alright, better than expected. I'm going to stay looking. He said he would contact me if things looked like they were heating up. As of now there wasn't much going on.
Now you have a positive point of reference for the next time you grow anxious about the idea of talking on the phone.
I use this technique for lots of things I have anxiety about and it gets me through them.

I understand evolving communications etiquette and all, but a "Help, someone wants to talk to me on the telephone" post is a bit much.

I am sure the guy is just leery about meeting a stranger and wants to make sure you're not a slavering meth head looking to steal his gear.
I'm no child and I hate phone calls. I'm starting to suspect most people do, too, hence the rise of social media and texting. it's faster and a "just the facts" medium and it allows us to craft the image we want to present.
I would literally rather meet a person cold for the first time than speak to them on the phone.
But then again, I'm just weird like that. I hate using the phone nowdays, unlike when I was 15 years younger.

Let me go a step further: I can't imagine hiring someone for a band......where they will be up on stage expected to entertain an audience.....if they are so introverted that a phone call stresses them out like it does many here.

Huh?

If a guy can't talk on the phone to a stranger, he just isn't going to magically change into an outgoing dude on the gig.....I don't really care what label differentiation you care to slap on it.

One of my last singers was a great entertainer on stage, but he was quite shy and soft spoken in person. I'll see if I can find a video to post.

Hey! I'm weird too. Just in different ways.
Is there a weird bass player club on TB?
I was not good enough for the Mediocre Bass Player Club.

I agree with your assessment that people today want "just the facts" as you put it. Don't give me the whole conversation, or the whole album, or the whole relationship: just the filet, please, be it via text, iTunes or Tinder.

Incidentally, same rules apply for those of you writing ten-paragraph posts in this thread: Do really think your banal observations merit so much real estate? Respect your audience by saying it in five sentences or less.

The correct response to a person who says, "that makes me feel uncomfortable" is "The world doesn't revolve around your comfort. Taking ownership of that simple fact is the first step toward adult maturity."

Usually, that makes them REALLY feel uncomfortable, at which point my work there is done. :)

This is truth. Weather you have serious issues or not the world is not nice. You have to learn to work in it or become a shut in. I do not like the everyone gets a trophy approach to life ....even though I should...you know....get a trophy....I did show up and stuff....

A phone call is a lot easier for someone with dyslexia. Strut me, I kown.
