In the next 10 years (probably closer to 5), Tesla will either:

a) go out of business.

b) be acquired by another car company and done away with so that their own electric cars can be distributed.

Everyone else is about to surpass Tesla with their electric cars... companies who know how to budget, assemble and distribute properly.

What makes the Tesla an Ironic car is that it has motivated other car makers to get in the game. That said, it will be probably Tesla who will be manufacturing the batteries for most other car makes in the future. From the very beginning, Elon Musk stated that he would be glad when other car makers followed his lead and start to build quality EV's too.

I'm not saying Tesla isn't a high-tech car company... they clearly are. They craft an innovative, fun product and they've certainly had a hand in upping everyone's electric game.

However, Tesla's stumbles in the manufacturing process and staying on schedule is absolutely killin' themselves... all while the big boys are making serious advances with their electric cars.

We'll see. Folks who haven't tried one tend to underestimate how far ahead they are. And nobody's going to beat them on batteries for another decade...

My dad had a beige Morris Minor 100 convertible when I was a kid. Looked like this except this is a 1960 and his was a 1959. My Oder brother and his friends used to hot-wire it and take it for joy rides around the neighborhood. I don't think dad ever found out. It eventually got traded in on a 1965 Ford Falcon 2 door hardtop.

Looked a lot like this one, except this is a 1964.

This isn't really accurate. GM has discontinued the Volt after balking at doing a needed remodel. They were spending all kind of money on their electric. That hasn't been popular with shareholders, even as a way to claim relevance in that segment.

How many electric Focuses have you seen, in person or ads? That should tell you something about Ford's enthusiasm for selling electric cars.

A singer in a band I was in while living in Cinci had one. Not a lot of power but it was a blast to drive as it did handle well, as I recall. Plus it's sort of a mini targa version of a 308GT4.
