I remember the first time I saw one. !972, a white one, in Toronto.
A high school friend had an Alpine back then (early-mid '70s), and a friend of mine in So Cal has a Tiger that he's restored.

When I enlisted in the Army in 1984, one of these picked us up from the airport. I can honestly say it was the high point of Basic Training.

Back in 1988 I walked in a musicstore to check out a secondhand modified Musicman bass that was in the shop window. While I was playing it, I asked a couple of questions about the cream coloured humbucker that was placed at the neck.
Just after that, the owner, that had given the bass to the shop guy to sell it, walked in.
I noticed that he left a brown Lotus Europa in front of the shop.
So we had a chat about the bass, but the asking price was a bit too high for me.
And the guy didn't want to haggle.
So no selling, I wanted to move on to where I was going and said "nice car you have overthere". He said,' you can have it'.
I wondered if he was out of his mind, or if the car was stolen.
And I didn't have a license then anyway, so I said "thanks, but no thanks" and moved on.
It turned out the guy made a song about that car, years later:
Well, the title is about the car, but the first 6 verses in the song are about a swimming pool.
The 7th is about the car.

Mine was also this color and looked this good. At 79hp in a heavy sedan, it's without a doubt the slowest car I've ever owned.

I've known a handful of guys that had a Lil Red Express truck, but never have I seen a Warlock...... that looks like one cool truck.
Amazing how lifted trucks are making a comeback..... They're all over the place where I live and you can even buy one off the showroom floor. GM dealers here are selling the "Rocky Ridge" trucks that come with a lift and 35" tires.
I've always thought lifted trucks and giant tires were a fraud, as your ground clearance is limited by the height of the pumpkin. If you want real honest-to-God ground clearance, you'll need one of these:
2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4x4 Squared
It has 18" of ground clearance. A Ford Raptor has 9.3". The G-Class is not quite in Unimog territory but closer than the Americans with clownish balloon tires and poorly-implemented body lifts.
It's hard to argue against the clean lines of the early mustang.
We rented a light blue convertible (same era) back in the mid '80s while living in L.A. from Rent-A-Wreck!
Price tag for said Mercedes?? Probably waayyyy out of my league.
I'll stick with my 79 Blazer. Total cost to build (including purchase price) is just under $14,000.
Speaking of that (and kinda going full Jon Hamm for the last several posts)...It helps owning a share of a major oil producing country to own one.

Somewhere way upthread I posted about going to school a couple of miles from the US importer. Saw them all the time, and they were definitely high on my teenage car crush list. But models like the Elan have aged a lot more gracefully IMO.
I've been driving a lifted truck since 1988..... what took everyone else so long to catch up??
