I had a chance to buy one of those back in the '70s. The Idaho Statesman newspaper in Boise (whose want ads were a hilarious, non proofread mess) had one for sale, from the last year they were made. It was about 2 years old at the time; immaculate condition; white-on-white; white leather interior; every available option; stupid low mileage; and they were asking $100.00. I told my Dad about it, and he said "Well, you're sitting right next to the phone; give them a call." I replied that it was just another goofed up Statesman ad, and that the price should have read $10,000.00. So, I didn't call... The next week, Dad came home from work, and told me all about the white Eldorado one of the accountants in his office bought last week - for $100.00. Seems that it was a woman selling the car that her husband had bought for his mistress - who he had run off to Acapulco with, for a quickie divorce and a life of sun and sin. When he called to tell her all about it, he also told her to sell the car - and send him the money. Which is exactly what she did... Dad said the accountant told him that the woman said she'd priced the car for a quick sale, and couldn't understand why it was several days before he called about it - and that he was the only person who did...

I always thought that these Matra Simca Bagheera's were a cool design.
But they weren't sporty to drive at all, people said it was a good looking but troublesome car.
A Porsche 924 would be a much better drive, which showed in the price.
If you had the money, the 928 would bring better performance.

i remember when these first came out a local garage had a 928 in the showroom i was a big thing at the time not many around
I miss the days when a reasonably well running car could be had for a few hundred bucks.
so do i brought a car 6 months ago it was a lot of money for what it was. now its needs more money spent on it for repairs
And today you can pick up a 928 fairly cheap compared to the older 911's of the same year. For some reason, the eight cylinder, water cooled 928's were not that well accepted by the traditional Porsche crowd so they really did not hold much of their value on the used market. That said, the 928 is good car for anyone looking for an older sports car at a very reasonable price

My friend that had the Opel GT and Dodge Polara, way back when, currently has a white '93 (IIRC) 928 GTS.
I've lost count at how many $200 cars I owned in those days...... how well I remember looking thru the Swap Sheet every October to find a winter car so I didn't have to drive my Camaro in the crap weather.
Today there's nothing to be had for anywhere near that price...... especially in a road salted environment like Western NY. Even a $2000 car is nothing more than someone else's headache.
My first four cars total were only $1000.

I was in Tokyo and Osaka about a year ago, and they'er still the cabs that dominate. Very familiar sight to anyone who has been there.
