Notice that all these cars are the same body style. They are all cool. However, the Chevrolet Chevelle outsold the Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Buick models.

Similar body styles but none of the body parts interchanged..... and they actually had engines designed by their own divisions under each of their hoods.

A real 67 SS would have 138 as the first three digits of the VIN. After 1969, you'd need a build sheet to authenticate a real SS car.

I've got a 68 SS396 ElCamino..... a real 138 car and not a clone. 396, 4 speed Muncie and a 3.31 geared 12 bolt. It's sat in a barn since 1992.

Someday, I will restore it.

Love that year El Camino. I had a GF in high school whose parents bought her and her brother a 67 Camero - don't think it was a SS - with a 396 and 4 speed Muncie. It was difficult to shift and you needed to stretch out your calf muscles before you could push the clutch, but it was fast. Her brother blew up the 396 and her folks replaced it with a 350. Had to re-aim the headlights afterward because the front end was so much lighter.

I've long had a hankering for a 1959 through mid 60's El Camino. But when I admitted that, my wife (a farm girl who grew up driving 3/4 through 2-ton trucks) taught our daughters to chant "Wussy truck! Wussy truck!" every time I mentioned it.

So much for that idea.

But I still remember that we once had neighbors who owned a full-dress, bright red '59 El Camino. That was one damn fine looking toy.
