Pickguard color for orange bass?

Great pics and suggestions here. Think i have narrowed it down to:

-White/mint/parchment - but this might look better with a maple fretboard. Im gong with a block inlay rosewood neck.

- Red tort

- cream pearl

I guess ill have to put the whole thing together to see the big picture. Just a few coats of clear + sanding/buffing before its done!

I like this idea. Oran orange pg. Maybe a shade off the basses color. Im thinking black would look sweet too.

I'd go with a white pickguard, but depends on the shade of the colour.
If it's darker I'd choose black or tortoise.

I usually don't suggest black pearloid, but I think it would look awesome with this orange.

What do they call that style? And do they make it in a shape for a musicmaster?

I don't know and I don't think so. Only seen them in Js and Ps and common guitar shapes.

They crop up on ebay now and then... anywhere from $75 to $150 ish.

I have to admit that that tort looks pretty good on that trans orange finish. If the grain wasn't showing and it was a brighter orange I would have to say no.

Pearl block inlays?

If so that answers your question, A pearloid pick guard that most closely resembles the blocks.

I think lighter colored pick guards work best with rosewood like white, cream, or pearloid.

Black was made for maple.

Purple's not complementary to orange. Blue is. Purple, green, and orange are all secondary colors.

Complements:

Blue - Orange
Yellow - Purple
Red - Green

And so on. Though you're right, complementary colors always look more vivid next to each other.
