Pickguard help for an ugly Precision Bass

One of the guitar techs said that they think they could make it work with a drilled 4th hole. But that's yet to be seen.

Of course, I am still on the prowl for a great bass, so my mind could change if I found something better. I just didn't want to pass this bass up just because of fixable aesthetic stuff.

No, don't pass it up. Heck, you can go for a whole refin if you like the bass enough and it's worth the money to make it look right to you. You may be able to get another guard to work with an extra hole drilled, but line them up first to be sure.

IIRC, WD Pickguards sells 'em for Specials. Whether they fit, I ain't jumpin' into that.....

True, not to mention you could find the right pickguard for your deluxe, get it in mail and discover that the screw holes don't match up or the neck pocket and/or pickup cutouts aren't quite exact.
Happened to me twice...plenty of after-market pickguards aren't even close to perfect.
I do believe that pickguards.com carries yours, though.

Hey, if you are still considering another bass, start another thread and people will start making recommendations...from Squiers to Fender Custom Shops, Laklands, G&Ls, and some completely different from a P bass...Rics, Thunderbirds, Sting Rays, etc!

Tort-istas, I like that. There are no shortage of Tort-istas on this forum.



OP, do your best to ignore the Tort-istas they will put their vomit pick guards on any bass regardless of color. On that blue, I would recommend parchment, mirror chrome, or good old fashioned black.

I think I will! Tarpley Music has a layaway program, so I can sit on the blue bass while I look around just to make sure. :D

I got a used AmStd Jazz with that was black and rosewood. Too much dark for sure, but I don't like plain white either, and neither did the ebay-er who sold it to me. He put a black-white-black pg on it but included the original white. I didn't like either one. While I don't generally like tort, after ruminating on it and looking at scads of pics online, I went with tort anyway. Such a classic look.

I think it would look great on that bass. That, or WMP.

My problem with the goal pick guard isn't asthetics so much as it is sensory. The texture make my skin crawl much like fingernails on a chalkboard (which incidently does NOT bother me). I know, wierd, huh.
If it were me change would be a requirement...I say mirror a la Chrissy Hinde.
