With the non-'70s pup spacing & the P pup up top, its a very different animal than my CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz.
The P pickup solo'd sounds warmer & thumpier than my Am. Std. P-Bass, so it is a welcome & versatile addition to the 'ol tool box.

Surprisingly there was not even one!
Aren't there any really good PJ bassists who might have inspired you guys to get a bass like that yourselves?
For me on Jazz Bass: Marcus Miller, Jaco, John Pena, Alex Al.
P Bass : Paul Jackson, Jamerson, Pino, Willie Weeks
PJ: Victor, Doug Johns, Kai Eckhard Karpeh... but I can't think of any others...

I agree with @9mmMike - leave as is, or maybe try white pearlescent? I think black would overwhelm and dominate that lovely green.

I have to agree. I tried out 50 to 60 basses this past year and the PJ was the only one that compelled me to buy it.
I don't know anyone off the top of my head who does play one.

Don't do it. It looks perfect as it is.
