POLL: Most irritating TB classifieds thread replies

The worst?

  • Trades?

  • Would you take a kidney?

  • I wish my wife would let me but...

  • If I buy another thing my wife will divorce me!

  • I know you said no trades but do you want this (piece of crap 5-string *inserts photos*)?

  • Wish I had the funds, GLWTS!

  • Hate to be a downer but <Inserts some TB rule>

  • Weight? Nut width? (with zero intention of buying)

  • Other - see comment

  • ALL OF THE ABOVE

  • if it were a 5er I'd be all over it

I have no problem with compliments, or "wish I could afford it" sentiments.

I'm not sure who it is or if there are a collective, but that person who constantly asks for the weight. Get a life, do you have nothing better to do than go through every ad and if the weight isn't listed reply"weight ?"? And once you ask that you never reply again or attempt to buy. This person(s) pisses me off to no end.

Weight is super important. I'd never buy a bass without knowing its weight. You're going to have to weigh it and update your listing eventually, so why not when you actually take pictures of it for the listing?

edit: I'm also a guitarist, and knowing the weight is important when buying a strat or tele, not just LPs.

Weight is definitely important, but there are so many people who have absolutely no intention of buying the bass that ask in every FS thread...for some reason. They post then you never see them again. Im personally not against posting all pertinent info in the ad, it just is annoying with all the tire kickers that are not going to buy anything.

You forgot scale length and every other measurable stat besides weight.

If these stats are "so easy to find", post it.

Also post whether the neck is straight, the truss rod works, the electronics are clean, and whether it has any dings or scratches that would otherwise might deter a buyer. You would think, as a seller, you would want to disclose this information because you want to be straightforward and the buyer is at a disadvantage not being able to play it. You'd think people would understand...

Now there's one I haven't seen a potential buyer post...

... but, it does sound familiar.
:smug: Actually, I was commenting on how fast InGloriousOz was responding to my posts, almost like he posted his responses to mine before I even posted them! :D

I think it is a time zone thing going on, here.
Customer service.....

My two cents says some of y'all are ridiculous.
It goes both ways, really. I've worked at businesses where we've had to ask a customer to please shop elsewhere.

This thread barely even applies to real *customers* anyway. Some folks aren't reading the original post and missing the point entirely.

I don't care about any replies (traffic is good traffic) except for the ones that want to p-ss on your thread or make an offer / I'll take it and then disappear. Now your bass looks like it sold, but nothing.

"Man, I had one of those a couple years ago and the neck fell off. Hope they fixed that."

"Hey will you take <insert a link to the thread where they are selling something> as a trade?" They don't want to trade, they just want to advertise their sale.

If I want my FS thread bumped for the sake of bumping it, I’ll do it myself. I don’t want some time-wasting tire kicker asking me questions concerning the item because he’s bored or thinks it’s pretty or thinks it a suitable topic of idle conversation. The rationalization that “you get a bump on the thread” is specious. You are wasting the seller’s time for selfish reasons. “Suck it up, you’re the seller” isn’t much better.

Those threads are commercial in nature. If you aren’t interested in actually purchasing the item, don’t type anything.
