I was going to vote for "carrots". What does it even mean? I just don't get it.

I think it's an allusion to the randomness of some remarks.

I like the ones when someone has a problem with a particular amp, something along the lines of it randomly burst into flames, whilst doing a jazz gig with master volume on 2. What happens next is the reply from someone who owns the same model of amp telling them they were doing it all wrong and their amp has been running fine for 300 years. Most unhelpful.

Nobody has. Internet smack talk. It's loosely related to certain posters who say mean and disparaging stuff about a famous player who then slink away and hide from said famous player at the NAMM show. I've seen this more than once.

There certainly seems abundance of tough guys around these parts.

The one for me is when you ask peoples opinions on certain basses/amps because there are no local stores that stock it and get the generic. Buy the one that sounds the best.

It's funny you say that. I have bought a fair few USA made basses because they were good not because they were made in USA but I don't think I have ever looked if my amps have been USA made or not. Not ever.

gotta jump jn here...wanna sound like Jamerson?..assuming you are a good bass player, play with one finger. You'd be surprised at what it actually does...you'll be all like "hey!...that sounds like Jamerson!..."

Jamerson didn't play like that all the time, on busier lines he alternated fingers like everyone else(at least according to jamerson Jr.)

How about the "did you check onvilab?" To the new compressor thread of the week. The site is very helpful but the reply is, IMO, a little passive aggressive. Maybe it's just the way it's phrased sometimes.

I guess saying it is annoying isn't really accurate. It's more predictable than anything. I usually check those threads to see how fast someone makes that suggestion.

I voted use the search. To me the most annoying responses are the ones that don't help at all, aren't relevant and are just suggesting what they use regardless of the op's stated application.

Nothing worse than searching for something, finding a relevant thread and the first, sometimes only, response is someone saying to do a search.

I think what some people forgot is it's Talkbass not Google. Sometimes we just want to talk about bass stuff!

"Do a search" on the basis that, during it's existence (and with the exception of newly introduced gear), Talkbass must have generated discussion on just about every permutation of bass related topic...so the logical extension of the "do a search" zealot's thinking would be to shut Talkbass down and just have Searchbass instead.
