One of my own

Probably a bit more what the OP had in mind;
Motown was totally pop. Pop doesn’t just mean “bubblegum”. There’s plenty of sophisticated pop out there.......shocked at the folks listing Motown as Pop.....
In north Indiana too, there and Michigan are the only two places I've ever been that they call it "pop". Of course I'm from the south where we call eveything a "coke", so even soda sounds different to me, lol!
