Post something "pop"

To me, pop is a writer’s genre, whereas rock and funk are more about the players (not to say there are no great players in pop or great writers in rock and funk). The most famous distinction is that pop is about singles and rock is about albums, although that matters less nowadays.

A couple of favourites…

The La’s - There She Goes

Matthew Sweet - I’ve Been Waiting

LOL! If anyone ever doubts that the names given to musical genres have long left their etymological roots in the dust, they need only visit this thread and/ or the recent one about "prog-rock".

And don't get me wrong, I love that all of the examples of "pop" music on the first page of this thread are between 30 and 60 years old!

fwiw whenever I hear the term "pop" music my head immediately goes to early 1980s techno-pop stuff, e.g.,

...but then, sadly, my head quickly goes to whatever is current, recently released, today's pop music ...and then I just want to kill myself. :vomit:

"Sunshine Day" - The Brady Bunch (check out the funky break at 0:50:bassist:):D:
