This is from a HC review, I take no responsibility for anything that happens to you or the pedal as a consequence of doing this mod (neither did the original author).
There is a delay circuit connected to the switch. As soon as the switch is pressed in, current flows through it, through a resistor, and begins to charge up a capacitor. Once that capacitor is charged (about half a second), the wah switches off and the pedal is by-passed.
Note that when the switch is open (the pedal is presses, you start using the wah) there is no delay. As some of you may know (or remember from physics class), if you reduce the value of the resistor, more current will go through it. And the more current, the faster the capacitor charges up (and the sooner by-pass kicks in).
So what we want to do is reduce the resistance of the resistor. (We could change the capacitor to a smaller one, but for this pedal, the resistor change is easier.)
Take off the panel on the bottom of the wah. Also unscrew the nuts which hold on the input and output jacks. Take out the 2 big screws holding the circuit board, and unplug the cables (just pull) which connect the circuit board to the potentiometer (the round thing with gears and with all the grease slimed over it). You might want to notice which way it was connectedthe wires come out of the plug pointing toward the bottom of the pedal I think (Ive since put it back together).
Now that youre holding the circuit board, look at the switch (on the opposite side as everything else). Press that, youre in bypass mode. Turn it over again. To the left of the switch (looking from the side with all the components except the switch) is a diode. To the right, you will see two resistors (blue things with colored rings on them.) The top one (the one closest to the edge, for you idiots holding it upside down) is the one were concerned with. If you count up the value of the rings, you get 2 megaohms (I think, Im lazy, so I used a multimeter.) Either chop this resistor off and solder a new one in its place, or just go ahead and stick another one on top of it (run them in parallel). Just make sure the new value of the resistor is a lot smaller. I cut the old on off and put in a 10K-ohm resistor there is no delay at all anymore.

Just added a DD-3 and "ordered" a chunk systems brown dog gated bass fuzz. By ordered, im just awaiting confirmation on when its going to be available to my local shop. Im so close to being finished now

no, ive been designing for about 3 months what im going to get. And its just about all done. I have most of my basses
p) covered... variety of distortions, chorus, wah, flange, delay, and i dont really dig the whole funk effects. But, i will however aquire a HOG when theyre available... if they work on bass that is. If not, either a microsynth or whammy will be in there. I just dont see myself needing more... hence the reason to take my time and get it right
And unlike dark harted, ive never claimed to be finished

yeah well... I'm pretty happy with my board. Its not a matter of wanting to add more, its a matter of lack of fundage.

+1. "Fortunately" for me, I've realized today that I should probably save some $$$$ if I'm ever to get a 5 stringer. I'm actually really quite happy with the setup I have now which is Boss TU-2 -> SAPDDI, for this week hahahachips said:

. It seems that everytime I go back to that "bassic" setup I love it even more.My PDDI settings are for a deep rumbling overdrive, and I roll off the bass' volume a little (~1/8th of a turn
) to get a really growly, but clean, sound! I just love how the PD is becoming an extention of me (figurativly ). Oh ya, and it sounds great w/ fingers or pick!

Yeah. He puts in this toggle switch that switches between the original RAT sound, a crunchy cleanish boost, and a RAT/TS type hybrid sound. I generally keep it on the RAT/TS side, I've noticed it doesn't have quite the same amount of gain, but it takes out some of the fizziness and makes it sound warmer. Of course, for the sake of tearing people's heads off, you could always flip over to the stock RAT sound.
I've always thought the RAT's low end loss was very minimal, stock or modded.
He also puts in a blue LED, which makes it sound 10000 times better.

You can flip the toggle switch all the way to the left and you'll get the stock RAT sound, which is just as nasty as I remember it being. Is not a bad sound, its just a really harsh nasty overdrive. I prefer the RAT/TS hybrid sound because its smoother, warmer, and more organic - while still being fairly gut ripping. As far as settings, I always have the distortion knob cranked, filter somewhere around halfway, and volume at about 10%. With the filter knob turned up that far, and playing through a naturally dark bass + amp combination, it sounds kind of like molten sludge. Not really grindy per se, but still plenty aggressive. Some people might think that this is a muddy sound, but I tend to like it. If anybody would be willing to host samples, I could record a few.
