The pitch shifting on the Space Echo is very smooth. You can control either the Repeat Rate (pitch shifting), Intensity (feedback/oscillation), or both with the expression pedal. You can also set it to control the echo volume. I haven't yet messed with the expression pedal for pitch shifting, but it seems that with my expression pedal (Yamaha FC7), a lot of the range of the adjustment is in the first 10% of the pedal's sweep. Boss suggests using one of their own expression pedals (duh) for best results.

EDIT: I don't know how it came across in the original post, but the Space Echo does not sound like a lo-fi digital delay in any way, shape, or form. It's as clear or as murky as you want it to be. The best descriptor I can think to attach to it is "organic". But not in the dank, what-the-hell-am-I-hearing, analog delay idiom.

Yeah sounds like the best of both worlds I was actually surprised by how hifi the PDS's were.

Can you get it really lofi drone like?

I'm seriously tempted by this but with that EHX Stereo Memory man coming out I just don't know :p

Nearly finished with the board of my dreams :)

Waiting on a Small Stone which I will may end up modifying to Univibe specs, and will certainly get rid of that notorious volume drop.

Also, my rehoused and modified Digidelay is at my girlfriend's, being sharpied to look awesome.

Last two things I want to get are an octave down pedal (XO Octave Multiplexer), and a reverb (EHX Holy Grail Plus?). Chorus or Flanger may come later.

The Chain I usually do is Expedelay, Big Muff, Ashdown Comp, DOD FX91, bass auto q. I experiment regularly :)

This is my board. As I like to say "If you can't do cool, do 'so bad it's good'." Someone called it unique - I pointed out that it wasn't, because the store had two of them.

It works, it was cheap, and it will be a conversation starter with my bandmates tonight.

I have a coffin case for my Mosrite hollowbody. I hate that case but it's the only one that fits that bass that I've found. It's kinda ridiculous, opeing up a black coffin to pull out a sunburst hollowbody. I always feel like a pall bearer when I'm loading in into the back of my car. :)

We had a guest bassist show up for our jams a few times in the last year. He had is Washburn Taurus (natural finish) in a coffin case...I use lowercase letters because it wasn't a "Coffin Case" - it was a coffin-shaped case that he and his father had built for him. It was a BEAST!

I love the idea of a hollowbody in a coffin. Wallow in the fundamental mismatch in styles!
