Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

I find the .045 to have too much tension for me.

I've gotten a lot more requests for a .050 flatwound over anything else in that series.

The Precision Flat 45-G @41.5 lbs. is not the highest in tension, nor is it the stiffest around. If you want a stiff 45-G, try the D'A Chromes @53.3 lbs.

Meanwhile, the 55-G weighs in at 68.8 lbs., a whopping 27.3 lbs. jump from the 45. I can see why there is a greater need for a 50-G than a 40.

Never used GHS Precision Flats before. To be honest, GHS was always my back burner brand that I'd probably never try, never wanted to try. But, with the purchase of my short scale, I've been string shopping.

Fed up with La Bella's for now, absolutely nothing wrong with them (I think they're awesome), I tried DRs, Chromes, Rotos for a day, Fenders, and others. Now, as of tonight, I've tried GHS.

To me, they have the sweet sound of La Bella's, but with more life, sort of a ratio of (Chromes @ 30:70 @ La Bella's). Less tension than either it seems, but not floppy at all. And, they have purple silk. It's the color of royalty.

So, now, I'm a lover of La Bella's for certain set ups, and GHS for others. Thank freaking goodness I tried GHS. You should too.

Actual question, what is the likelihood of a fatter string offering in short scale? I understand that's a limited market, but I'd love to go .50-.105/.110 with some GHS flats.

Four Years and 97 days! Still pounding out the good tone, and thick cuts of delicious bass meat! In another thread asking how many chances you give a stringset I said, if every playing day is a chance, then I gave this stringset 97 chances and soooo glad I did. Patience is a Virtue and so are GHS Precision Flats. The rewards are manifold.
Dang, nice distance. I've gone two years with flats. Shooting for 3-4 with these GHSs'.

Anyone aware of an online retailer that has the CM3050 set? I sent a PM to Jason at BSO but haven't heard back. Can't seem to find them specifically listed anywhere.

They were JUST released and are on the new pricelist, so dealers should have them in stock shortly.

got them and again just too tense for me. i'm a weakling :roflmao: back to the .40 .55 .75 .100 set for me. the new packaging does look great though :)

so i had an epiphany last night. i went back to the original .95 E string and put it in with that set. The tensions are super close like .3 away from each other, all around 38 lbs. I like it better than the .100. I guess GHS does know what they are doing with that light set LOL feels good.

I am a dyed in the wool LaBella 760FL and TI JF fan... but consider me sold on GHS Precision Flats. I just got a set of 45-105 from Amazon and put them on my new Classic Stingray that I tune to Eb. Man, these strings are the perfect set for that bass and many other basses I am sure.

Hmmmmm, well I liked these so much that I just ordered another set from Amazon.

In doing so I found out that the first set I got was a set of M3050 and the second set I got was CM3050 when clicking on the exact same link. I'm not concerned one way or the other... I am just curious to know what I will get on Friday when my next set is delivered.

I am hoping that these sound just as good on a modern three band Stingray as they do on my Classic two band.
