I was joking, dont. Fo' the record, no, I haven't tried the Sabine. I'm sure it can tell you that an A's an A way better than a Korg and isn't the complete waste of a rackspace the Korg is.

I'm sarcastic...I think.

No.. you weren't joking.. you were being rude and inconsiderate. You should apologize to the CEO of Sabine, and the entire bass community for your lack of humor, and inability to produce sarcasm.

BTW- I only got the sabine because I found a great deal on a new demo, that made it cheaper than the Korg. As long as it has the ability to show the guitarist that I AM in tune, and he's a moron... I don't care what brand it is.

I been using Jack Read's incredible Purity tube preamp along with my QSC PLX-2402. My cabs are 2 Ampeg BXT410HL 4-10"s. I love the sound of this set up. But I recently bought a 6-string bass and I'm noticing the 10's are being stressed a bit. I'm being really careful with my EQ and gains. But I may eventually have to update my cabs.

I prefer a rackmount preamp/power amp set-up for it's versatility, But I also use a G-K combo for smaller rooms, and I'd buy a vintage Ampeg SVT in a second. So 'all of the above' are fine with me.

IMO a vintage SVT is the ultimate in bass tone.

Be sure to look into a Bergantino 610. It would kill with your rig!

Check out a Schroeder 410 or a pair of Schroeder 1210.

I am becoming more convinced all the time that I really love the sound of the Demeter VTBP-201S preamp (with a very old GE 12ax7 -- like to try some Telefunkens) in live performance situations.

I recently changed my speaker system from the HT322 to a Schroeder 410 and it just convinces even me more that the 201S has the tonal pallete that I love.

I'd still like to hear a Glock BassArt, Millennia Origin, and maybe one of the Avalon preamps.

I'd also like to try a Crest Pro 8200 or a Bryston 14B SST Pro.

The two main differences are the articulation in the low end and the efficiency/projection of the sound output.

The Schroeder 410 is very tight all the way down to low 'B', even at high volume levels. It still has a slightly aggressive edge to the sound, somewhat similar to the HT322, just more articulate in the bass.
The HT322 was a bit looser at the very bottom and gets just a bit looser the harder it's pushed.

The Schroeders all project sound very well (very even and balanced at several different distances, really great for outdoor gigs -- the Bergs do this well, but not nearly as well as the Schroeders) and seem to have better efficiency than the Bergs.

The Bergs have (to me) a slight advantage in their midrange and treble -- a more "open" sound and very sweet hi-end, but the Schroeders are close, more so in the treble than the midrange -- I suspect something to do with the angled, semi-horn loading on the one side.

Pre amp: Demeter VTBP 201, Glockenklang Bass Art Clasic, Aguilar DB 680. Power : Demeter VTHM 300 alltube, QSC 3402.
Head : Eden WT 400plus, Ampeg SVT2Pro, Clarus 2R. Cabinet : Wayne Jones 2 x 210, Acme B2, Self made 1x 12, Warwick 2x10 plus 1x 15, Glockenklang Acoustic Art. Combo : SWR Baby Blue, A I coda.

I use to switch and mix use of them to get different sound.

I'm also leaning towards the "Dickens" set-up.

I had an El Whappo & a Whappo Grande, they were cool but not my thing.

The Whappo didn't have enough db's compared to the full range cabs used with it. I use a Mesa with an EV 1x18 that works great & has a broader Hz range(IMO & IME). I tried to love it but...Now, I'm dying to try a 2x12 sub & if it kills, it'll be added to my arsenal...

I've played an Accugroove 2x10L that was nice & I also like the Meyers sound/performance, but not their weight or $$$.

My current rig sounds great but I'm always looking to improve...
