Precision is a Chevy, Jazz is a Ferrari

You couldn't pay me to put up with owning a Ferrari. However, although a Jazz bass is not my first-call instrument, if you own more than 3 basses, one should be a Jazz.

And the other 2 should be G&L's!

They don't mention that the Bullet Truss was also added because the original truss ended at the first fret and when Fender moved to the large square fret markers, starting on the first fret, it would sometimes lift cause a crack in the rosewood, which is softer than Maple, between the nut and the marker. ... My Ibby SR300DX with a rusted-in truss rod (luckily in a usable place) and just back from the luthier after he was able to pry his way into the battery chamber and replace the rusted screws holding its lid on is the equivalent of my 18-year-old Citroen Saxo. Both have seen better days, both still have rust in places and both work, although the bass sounds nicer.

The Precision is a sledge hammer while the Jazz is an axe. You can smash things with both but can only cut through with the Jazz.

Not if you knew how to use it, and your amp. Not as versatile as a Jazz, but not a one-tone wonder, either.

A tone knob is the only thing I ever found useful, and only for Fender style single coil pickups (including split coils).
