Double Bass Pride, Prejudice, and zombies

I was born and raised in North Louisiana...which makes me a yankee as far as the folks in South Louisiana are concerned. I now live in Ft. Worth, TX. I love Louisiana and Texas both. Love ice tea, fried chicken, grits, cornbread and beans...good home cooking. Have lived in Texas longer than I lived in Louisiana, but in less than a year (292 days) I am retiring and moving to Lake Charles, LA to marry the love of my life (also a TBr). So, I started out in Louisiana, and I'm going back to spend my life with the man of my dreams. 
We have Pasties and the deer up here can top 200#.

I forgot one very important thing: 20% of all the fresh water in the world. You guys in the southwest can have your sunshine and "Dry heat"!

Born in Charleston, SC; lived in Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Orlando, FL, Ft. Pierce, FL; New Orleans (technically, Kenner), LA; Slidell, LA; Hammond, LA; Baton Rouge, LA; and now Greensboro, NC. I've also lived in Prestwick/Ayr-By-The-Sea, Scotland; and Seville, Spain.
Thanks to my good fortune at being the son of an aviator, first in the USAF, then for Delta Air Lines; then the further good fortune to be a professional touring musician for a time, I was able to visit almost everywhere in the world. None will ever draw me to live anywhere but in the southern US.
There were things about all these places that I loved, things about them all that I didn't like so much.
I consider myself a southerner - specifically I consider "home" to be Louisiana, and I'm proud of it. I love living in the south, the food, the people, the places, the things to do, are all wonderful and like no other place on earth (ESPECIALLY when I was in Louisiana!
).
I am proud of it, not to the point of being stupid, and as Holy War already posted, I certainly have no affection for the Confederate history of the region, but I cannot consider living elsewhere, ever.
The comments about Florida are absolutely correct, as I lived IN Orlando, and it was not southern at all...however it wasn't "transplanted north" either...it, and Tampa & Miami, all have their own unique flavor and vibe, influenced by both their southern location and the transplants from both more northern and more southern peoples. However, yes, if you get about 10-15 miles outside of Orlando, it becomes the SOUTH again.

Given the City's current ethnic makeup - I would have though that "London Pride" should be a very exotic cocktail....

LOL I love how Florida is never considered south though we are the southern most state. I guess not sleeping with our cousins and having all our teeth excludes us from being considered fro m the south.
It's hard for me to imagine va as being south..
Anyways.
I'm from Louisiana and never felt like I belonged here. I hate sweet tea, I like offroading but not in mud and not inntrucks! I like my lifted SUVs and more safari type vehicles. I don't like alot of stuff about down here, well I don't feel like I fit in with it, I feel like an outsider looking in, from this stand point I like seeing it but not doing it.

It's good to see a clever title here once in a while. The beer is available here, but I always end up passing on it in favor of something else. Maybe I'll give it a shot next time.
