Might I add (did I miss it?) the Fender Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster bass which Fender released along with the Fender Jaguar reverse pawn shop model - the first medium scale offerings from Fender since the original Stu Hamm Urge I.

Nice necks, much more substantial and very close in width to the full scale necks - a different feel than the Fender Japan medium scales, which are still super nice.

I know what a fan of medium scale basses you happen to be...and I agree with you 100%

I'm 50 now with a touch of arthritis and I bought a 32 in her

Couldn't be happier!

(ps: you do have massive chops)

Hey SlappyTap - are you still on the hunt or did your GAS pass (pun intended ;) )? The Matsumoku Squiers are nice. I snagged this one from the classifieds and have been very impressed with it:

Rondo music has SX medium scale J bass copies and a Douglas medium scale hollow-body for a great price.

I had a Robin 32" scale bass that was a sweetheart, I regret selling it.

And if your pockets are deep you can get any Status bass with a 32" scale and a bendwell.

I guess since he has a number of models and builds as they are ordered, one could consider them a production bass. The finishes are gorgeous and the string spacing is narrow. His prices are pretty reasonable IMO.

Had a Fender MIJ 32 inch P-bass (with very nice birdseye neck!) back in the mid-nineties. A decade later I had a couple of very nice custom-shop mediums made in Europe (a five and a 4-string) and then an Aerodyne - but starting over from zero now with a very nice (like new) twenty-year-old Mexican URGE. Want to pick up another cheapy soon to put some flats on.... :-)

Since I began to develop fretting hand/wrist issues in middle age, i have stopped playing 34's, and now play a nicely modified squire jag SS as my primary bass. I am very interested in the 32" to see if I am happier with the sound and feel than with 30". Most of the basses folks seem to mention are either bespoke, or seem very very rare on the used market. And, some of those mentioned here seem to now be 34's (Yamaha RBX 170 for instance, or Ibby Destroyer). And personally, the japanese fenders, while undoubtedly nice, dont seem my exact cup of tea.

So, i thought i would bump this old thread up and see if folks knew of other current 32's, or others that might be floating around used.

If that weren't white it'd likely be on its way already, thanks fir the heads up. Seems like that's probably a japan only model, much like the fender lines.

I'm being dragged kicking and screaming to the conclusion that there just might not be one out there that fits all my wants/needs, and some sort of custom is indicated.
