That's a good question. Here's how it's gonna work...first you'll download the backing track file...then you play the your part, just make sure the file your part is on starts from the beginning of the backing track...then upload the file to a website where you can store your files and give us the link to it...then we'll download it.

Hey Croz, if you like an only bass played backing track
I have one, originally it was the intro for my solo, but
I think it could be good as a backing track to.
Do you remember Cliff Burtons bass solo introduction
befor "For whom the bells toll" live performed in
Oakland (Day on the green)?
It is a progression like that; the difference is that
his one was a scale, mine is an "arpeggio".
I'll upload it in the site I'll construct with the solo.
The only problem is that it starts slow, so I think pherhaps it's a good idea if the Allstar track stars
with the slow introduction, than my solo (they both are
solo), and than the backing track and the other solos
(that's also why my solo is not so magnificent, and it is
better to have a "crescendo" with the solos; you know
if the first is the best there's no way for the others
to be good considered).
If you like this we can do it (HEY I'M NOT SPEAKING ONLY
WITH CROZ!!!).

Where's Paul (The Admin Guy)? I thought he would at least chime in with some comments. Anyway, couldn't we just put a file with a (say Bruce's 24 bar) backing track (like simple drums and keyboard) that everyone could download, solo over and then upload (with a new name, like his/her user name). Then one of you guys could just paste them together.
And if there are any profits (like anyone would buy this thing ;) ), I think they should go to Talkbass.

Clarification: this is just for fun...and an awesome way for us to share our recording techniques.

JT: I like your idea of Giant Steps but it would be hard to compete with the Bass day version...it would be cool to try, though. If someone else has wants to track it...I have neither a recording of it or sheet music, so...

I really think Giant Steps might be a bit much! I was thinking more of the 4 bar vamp from Red Clay, or something along that line...a little less "heady" for those not really into the jazz thing

(Plus, man, *I* don't wanna solo over that thing!)

Ok, here's what I've got working right now. I've used the chord prog that someone suggested, only I changed the last chord to a stronger dominant so it feels more like the end of a chorus. Looks like this:

How does everybody feel about a tempo of 100 bpm, with "yellowjcket" style (straight 16ths, arppegiated piano type thingie)

this is almost done...I'm banging it out pretty fast, but I've gotta go to work soon, when I'm done, where should I send it? And sould I send .wav or .mp3?

are you going to host it?

here's the deal. The track has two measures count in (1, 2, 1234) and goes two choruses (48 bars) and ends. when you do your solo, don't come in early, and be out (completely) before the end of the last bar of the chorus, that'll make it easy to edit together. If everyone sends me an MP3, I'll edit them together, master it and then get it to whoever wants to host it.

I can have the MP3 ready tomorrow night.
