Project Talkbass

Ok, guys. "All Stars", the Project Talkbass backing track is on its way to Joht Turner. He'll put it on his bands website. Here's what ya gotta do.

1. Download the MP3.
2. Record your solo.
3. Mixdown the final track.
4. Send it to me. ([email protected])

A few notes:
there are 6 clicks at the begining of the track (to count you in) *Leave at least the last 2 of them!* so I can time the edits easily.

There are two choruses of the chord progression on the track. *Don't start early!!! No pickups or anything like that. You can use one or both choruses, but *be completely out by the last beat of the last bar of the chorus* If you hang over, I'm gonna leave out your solo on the final track. I don't want solos getting cut off or stepped on.

All the tracks were done with a synth, so please *tune to them!* :) Auto tune only works on a single track.

Have fun! When the solos start coming in, I'll post something about when the final edit will come out.

oh, yeah, and nobody play better than me :)

sorry, forgot to mention. If you have big bandwidth or a lot of time, send me .wav files back (there will be less loss to dithering), aiff files are ok, too and MP3 files will be fine, but I'd prefer for sound quality the uncompressed files over MP3.

okey dokey kids, it's here and it's ready for you.

remember, I didn't write this progression! it's deceptively difficult. Download it here:

and when you're done, email it to me at

[email protected]

have fun, folks!

I got it. Was that the band in a box?
You guys are definitely go getters. (Pacman,JT)
I am slacker...
I definitely agree with the changing of the last chord. I was working on my own version of those chords in a backing track. The last chord kind of blurred on the repeat. Maybe we'll compare later?

My concern: do you guys still want to play 4 bars? If so we need to make a schedule because we don't want everyone to play on the same 4 bars (the same chord/s). Unless you want everyone to go through a whole cycle? I don't think a slacker like me could make it that far. I suffer from pre-mature solo end-uation. 4-bars and I'm spent. That's why I'm not too popular with the ladies.

Actually, I was hoping everybody would take *2* choruses! (48 bars), but if ya want to take one, that'd be cool. (same rules, tho, ya got to be out by the edit point)

you can do it, dude....the nice thing about this progression is that because it's non-functional harmony, you can think of it as 4 four bar solos.

JT this might be a perfect segue into a theory discussion. We can analyze what everyone did for their solo, and why it works/doesn't work....or not.

C'mon, CROZ you can do it, dude!

Hey Pacman, as Croz suggested to me "Upload it on a site where you can do it", this can be eg your homepage, than say us the link this way we can work over it to realize or adapt our solos; I think is better .mp3 'cause it is lighter and request less time to be downloaded than an .wav file.
I thank you for your work cause I need this backing-track
but I'm not so good writing riffs that anyone could like.

STAY HEAVY NiKo Raven (The youth gone wild).

I don't think I would have a problem wanking for 48 bars...but...

Who's in on this?

Myself, Pacman, JT, Niko, Player, MegaAngus, Mesa Man, Mr.Fortune Cookie,Bruce Lindfield...Is that accurate?

(BTW, How's your hand M'Angus?)

If we each do 48 bars the final track is going to be 18 minutes long... :(
How 'bout just 24 bars?

Also, you have to play better than the synthesizer bass or you will punished.

Well dont wait up for me.. I am going to move in the next few days and will be giving up my 10mbit LAN connection with the internet... :( :( :( for a stinkin' modem!!! Bohooo, oh well I can still get some bandwith at my girlfriends office.(but at least the new apartment is ALOT better) But my point is, dont wait up for my part to come in.. I have only listened a couple of times to the backing and still trying to figure out what and how to play my part. I will be back in here the day i get the modem thing working, guess I am spoiled with three years of LAN into my apartment. Oh well see ya!

so we're doing 24 bars, right? jon, we could take the 2nd half of mine and do back and forth solos, and the 2nd half of yours and do a harmony solo - that would be cool, eh? :D

we also need to see if steve lawson is interested to get in on this, if he likes.
